Sandy Hook seems to have been a working (albeit oddly run-down) school
Though I don't yet understand why it seemed so grungy and run-down, here are a few reasons I think logic dictates SH(E)S was a working school.

In 2004, a guy was charged w/three felonies, including having pot within 1500 feet of Sandy Hook School:

[link to www.newstimes.com]

In 2007, parents successfully sued the State of CT (BOE) over problems with their child's education at SHS for the years 2004-2005 and 2005-2006:

[link to norabelangerlaw.com]

There are endless policy/budget wars publicized in the NewsTimes regarding SHS and other area schools--this one's 2004:

[link to www.newstimes.com]

And of course ct.gov itself has endless refs to the school--this is a 2004 Plan of Conservation & Development for Newtown (school mentioned on p. 62):

Endless school budgets:

Bus routes have been published for Newtown and all the ones I've found include 12 Dickenson Drive. I'll try to find those (they always elude me) but would be intrigued by others' observations. I still can't figure out why the school was so dingy; but it sure seems to have been in use, best I can tell.

Adding to the list are the numerous photos taken by The Newtown Bee of events at the school:

Halloween 2009

Though not directly related to your post, I found a picture of Ethan and Ben Paley from 2009:

I have many, many questions about the incident as reported, but I don't doubt it was a real school with real people.

Whine all you want...there are documents for that school.

Anything can be faked, I do believe that; however, criminals are 1) lazy and/or strapped for time (even sophisticated criminals) and 2) paranoid. The idea of fabricating a school where none existed, digitally, is bothe incredibly time intensive and ripe for failure. Way, way, way too many witnesses in town squeaking away about the "fake" school. There's no way.

I DO think there's something odd about the dinginess of the place--maybe it's the harsh flash on the cops' cameras, I don't know. And my GOD were those rooms messy and chaotic. I am definitely scratching my head over that aspect.

But I really don't think someone went through internet history and fabricated endless boring, fake Board of Education minutes and back-dated fake NewsTimes articles, bogus bus routes, etc. And I've seen too many FB pics of SHS classes out on that playground.

More convincing to me overall, I think, are the vicious forum and Facebook fights between Newtown parents, over school and busing issues, stretching back into time. This is just too prolific and intensive to be faked, in my opinion.

I don't see the point in using a fake school anyway, unless the whole town is fake. Simply too many people who'd know. You don't fake an entire school and trust 26,000 people with the knowledge.

I think the "non-working school" is a red herring, in the final analysis.

Probably to distract from the horrific possibility that in order to further a gun agenda, real people might have been killed, or at least had their deaths staged at a real facility.

There's definitely something in the air right now what with the Courant reviewing dashcam footage, etc. Maybe a staged lawsuit?

IMO, School was all dingy from flooding, had asbestos and was going to be taken down at some point soon, soo the last couple years it was used for minimal use and storing old school district bs, like guitars in the garbage can:) I bet they were using it for teaching weird kids with learning and social problems , great cover up for having some real half assed school things going on.

I think this is possible. Maybe only the portables at the rear of the school were actually used in recent times. This might explain why we saw so few kids coming out? There certainly has been no evidence so far of 450 + kids evacuating let alone 700 that Hochsprung reported said there were in her letter.

I don't doubt it was functioning in some capacity.

Many cities have a municipal building that might not be up to code or be outdated enough to mothball but an occasional use might seem in order. Maybe the new school did not have enough parking for certain events.

Like the Christmas program. Maybe they used Sandy Hook elementary school because the other schools also had programs.

Who knows. But the interior did not seem up to date nor did it seem like it had been kept professionally.

Nobody will really know since they tore it down....so there is that.....
Is there a chance we could get some honesty up in here?

See how easy it is to have more evidence it was a limited use building than an active school. Should be cleared up .

450 kids is not a lot. I just don't understand why such a rich district would accept such a modest facility.

Maybe because SHS was for special-needs.

How could this school have been rated so high that these rich folks moved to the Sandy Hook school district just so they could enroll their children?! Does this school resemble anything that would tout such a reputation?!?!

Hell, where are the 450+ kids anyways? Did you see them? I didn't.
