Lets see.. Effects of a major eruption would include and not be limited to.. A global cooling trend (ice age) Depending on wind patterns at the time anywhere from 10-60ft of Lung destroying ash dropping on a large area of the US. It would most likely trigger earthquakes on faults all over the world creating even more death and destruction.

A Yellowstone eruption would cause a world wide collapse socially and economically. within two to four months eighty percent of the US population (that depends on transportation to eat) will die from starvation. Between a year and two years after the eruption a decent percentage of the worlds population will be dead from civil unrest,wars,starvation etc

Yellowstone blows.. Or any of the major super volcano's blow just think of it as a nuclear war.. We all would be fucked. Same thing with a large asteroid strike etc..


Personally i want to die like my Uncle.. In my sleep. Unlike his passengers who were screaming in the back seat.

Yellowstone Caldera Supervolcano to Remain Dormant One to Two Million Years At Least

Scientists expect Yellowstone's supervolcano, the Yellowstone Cadera to remain calm for at least the next one to two million years.
"Yellowstone is one of the biggest supervolcanos in the world," Ilya Bindeman, an associate professor of geological sciences at the University of Oregon told Phys.org. "Sometimes it erupts quietly with lava flow, but once or twice every million years, it erupts very violently, forming large calderas, which are very large craters measuring tens of kilometers in diameter."
