Mr. Green,

It is hard to find a place to begin in replying to your last message, but I will start with your past association with my father.

As you are well aware, my father is a very private person and far from seeking public notoriety, like yourself, he is content to confine his life and work to a very close network of family and friends, many of them whom you have come to know through your visits with him.

Being an experienced entrepreneur and promoter of various causes, magazines and books over these past 60 years led you to ‘see’ last year a potential source of added revenue to yourself by ‘leading’ my father from his relatively silent existence to the brutal light of public discourse. My father is not blameless either for this, he is a rather trusting man and this you know all to well.

Where you miscalculated however in your scheme was that unlike yourself my father has no interest in anything other than the truth as he believes it. Your belief that you could successfully market a man of God for your own profit has been sorely misguided to state the best case, extremely harmful to my father (your friend?) at its worst.

In knowing my father and his family you have missed one important thing, honor. If there is anything our family all stands for is honesty and honor, and both are in extremely short supply in your dealings with him.

Now today, and for reasons seemingly unknown, but actually quite transparent, you attack not only my father but also his family. I personally believe that your motive is to be able to regain the ‘good graces’ of the mass media so that you can sell more of your books.

This being the case then shows clearly that your letter today is but the opening of a much greater and concentrated attack upon my father by you and your media friends. These types of attacks against my father are neither unexpected nor are they surprising. What is wrong in this particular instance though is that you were a man who called my father your friend while at the same time ‘planning’ all along this course of action of deceit and lies.

In your letter you state, “Oh, for my information, how come Rachal Booth never got married? Is she gay? And the same for Deborah Booth. How sad for David to have two spinster daughters.” , at the same time knowing full well that our families beliefs call for no woman subjugating her family name to marriage. You were also well aware of our families happiness and joy when Rachal recently married and my father and Kathy were able to attend via a live Internet video. More sadly though was your disparaging of my sister who has four lovely daughters and had been widowed at an age when most women are just beginning their lives. And the sadness I mention is not for her but rather for you.

My father believed in your integrity to the point where he even asked the family to assist you and your wife through a difficult financial situation by an agreement wherein the trust would exchange tens of thousands of dollars for a lease on land that your wife owns but is in arrears on the taxes. Throughout the years my father and family have further provided to you at no cost thousands of dollars of organic food. Yet, for all of this you have chosen this route.

So to all of this I can only wish you success Mr. Green and respectfully request that you leave our father alone. Go on to your media shows, sell your books and all the best to you and your family but, our father has no need of your type of friendship.
