This new stuff is made to break and to be thrown away. I used to love getting misc parts and building something. You really cant do that any more with this new stuff. |

Where will I go to buy a $50 HDMI cable or a $35 USB extension that I can get on Amazon for $8??!! Quoting: Hitokiri That's right, but you can get that connection from Radio Shack right now and not wait days for ebay or Amazon. I drove 16 miles last week for a 1/8 mini jack to RCA connector. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 25872480 United States 03/04/2014 01:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They should have stayed a store where people could go to purchase electronic components. Instead they became a store with snotty, arrogant, rude and aggressive salesboys pushing crappy cell phones. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55081750 And everything costs twice as much as anywhere else BINGO on both counts. Obviously, two kain things are killing them off: 1) People just don't bother fixing consumer goods, including electrpnics, anymore, they jus;t go out a buy a new one. Most of the consumer products we buy today aren't meant to be fixed, they'rethrow away. If it lasts a year you still made out because it 3as so cheap to begin with. I expect the tablet I'm using right now to last 2, maybe 3 years, before at a minimum the battery craps out; but by then newer generation models, with better specs and operating systems, will be available for dirt cheap prices. It makes no sense to replace the battery or fix a problem. As for phones, IMO, even the relatively expensive droids and iphones are likewise throwaway. You should get at least 2 years out of them, maybe 3. MANY people will simply replace the phone or tablet aftet 1 year. 2) Internet sales. It's very easy and generally much cheaper to order stuff you would have gone to stores like Radio Shack online. |

kingbirdfivezero User ID: 47347927 United States 03/04/2014 01:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The last time I stepped into a Radio Shack was to buy a CR2032 battery. They didn't have it (although it is a commonly used battery) -- but the sales person did question me about my cell phone needs. At the time I had to carry two cell phones and a pager (due to work) -- so I didn't need another phone. Needless to say I've never been back to the Shack -- and that was in the mid 2000's. |

They were a thriving store until they switched over to cell phones & then they died quickly. Yep, I dont think a Fry's closed anywhere. [link to www.frys.com] Radio Shack used to be just like them. You could go in and buy just about any part for electronics. That's a nice niche. Now every store is trying to sell the same thing. I liked the smallness that Radio Shack used to be. Fry's is good but just too fucking huge. |

The only thing that went out on it is the dial light -- and that's after all those years of daily use... |

Their prices are too high and their employees are a bunch of asshats in general. You can't blame Obama for Radio Shack's bad business model. |
