Ancient virus still packs a punch after 30,000 years
This is kinda of stupid! Why would they be doing this knowing new diseases are NOT A GOOD THING!!

I wonder if this is the reason for a new population controls method

"The virus, pithovirus sibericum, attacked single-cell organisms despite having not done any infecting for a few hundred centuries.

Jean-Michel Claverie, an evolutionary biologist at Aix Marseille-University, is worried because it means that there might be a life-threatening amount of viruses lurking within the Earth's frozen soil layers, waiting patiently to be unleashed by melting Arctic ice. “We might be able to eradicate viruses from the surface of the planet," Claverie says, "but that doesn't mean that there isn't a single particle of that virus still alive somewhere.”"

Yes you have to wonder why they are playing around with viruses that old, no one would have immunity from it. It could infect animals or the ocean life which in turn kills us.

I wondered why they were digging up all the other viruses they could find, like the 1918 flu which might not have been a flu. Germ warfare is one of the oldest warfare tools. They have a way of saying it just happened.

On the flipside we may find a sub disease that we can use in cures. I'm not 100% on this but with global warning things will be thawed out and new things will arise.

Don't these things have to feed on something or are they just like chogenicallyy frozen or something? I thought extreme temperatures kill bacteria. If they live through that I think it's time obammmy throws some DEFENSE SCIENCE research $$$ behind it before it get's used as a cheap weapon! Imagine the water supply.

Here in Columbia we do not have these issues lol :)

Does any one know if the disease is active of just alive or are they just saying they can extract it and then bring it back. If it thaws out and is a deadly strain with nothing added I see bad news for our future!
