BOTH had their passport stolen last year in Thailand (possibly in the same hotel along with 4 (rumoured) other passports)........

I've never had anyone match my face with my passport at the ticket counter. I carry-on luggage. I rarely check luggage, so I use the self check-in kiosks. I do go through TSA security.

If there was a bomb onboard, you always have to consider workers who have access to the airport, to the luggage and cargo, and to the galleys on the planes.

In many airports, ground workers do not go through security. I've been on airport employee buses where employees park their car in the employee parking lot, board the employee bus, and go through a door at the airport (no security) while carrying duffle bags. I've always wondered why all those guys (ground workers) need large duffle bags to go to work for 8 hours!

And also, the kitchens who serve the galleys on planes, are not inside the airport. Their facilities are on the airport grounds, so no security check is needed for them as far as I know. Anything can be planted in the food/liquor carts/ ovens, etc.

It's all good. Just saying... this ups the likelihood of a terrorist event.

Its been a while since a Boeing commercial jet has been shot down by a missile so I guess it was due.

Flight 007 shot down by missile, Lockerbie bombing, 911 autopiloted into WTC1 & 2 , Long Island missile and now this third shot down by a missile. I think I'll fly Airbus next time.

This is known as a convenient plot device in scriptwriting. In order for the people whose passports were stolen to stand up and say "I'm still alive, my passport was stolen"... they had to release the passenger list.

However, seemingly, this script is a lousy one as....

so either the thieves couldn't escape the hit although they were using fake IDs, or the plane went down but the intended victims are still alive, losing not their lives but their passports

A six mile oil slick if it was in the right current isn't all that long. However, it's odd for a plane to just 'drop out' of the sky.

My lad is studying for his PPL, he's a hell of a lot smart with regard to aviation than myself. He said, "Pop, most planes crash on take off and landing. Unless something takes them out in the sky. It's not impossible, but not likely."

So the passports got stolen last year. They would of had to report this to be able to leave the country. Also wouldn't the two stolen passports of been red flagged and noticed when they were used this week?

I sure it's a general reference to petroleum products and not specific to any one in particular. They always call it an oil slick even if it is other fuel.

Sort of. Passenger lists are released if a plane crashes. Normally, though, you can't get access to the PAX list.

CNN on tv just said two passengers may have been traveling on LOST OR STOLEN PASSPORTS! If so this makes terrorism very likely.

But I thought Barack Obama was on top of things?

I have no experience in any of this but if passports got stolen a year ago how were they not flagged? Inside job?

We are being told that only the country that issued the passport is likely to even know it has been stolen. That, and as relates to major criminals.

Otherwise, evidently no one is keeping track of this sort of thing.
