CNN on tv just said two passengers may have been traveling on LOST OR STOLEN PASSPORTS! If so this makes terrorism very likely.

We are being told that only the country that issued the passport is likely to even know it has been stolen. That, and as relates to major criminals.

Otherwise, evidently no one is keeping track of this sort of thing.

Pretty stupid, huh?

Still no debris field located.

Re: 2 people listed as passengers on missing Malaysia Airlines plane were not on board, Austrian and Italian officials say.
One uncertainty about the flight involved when it disappeared from radar and how quickly the search began in the Gulf of Thailand. Malaysia Airlines said that the plane took off at 12:41 a.m. Malaysia time, and that the plane disappeared from air traffic control radar in Subang, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur, at 2:40 a.m.

That timeline seemed to suggest that the plane stayed in the air for two hours — long enough to fly not only across the Gulf of Thailand but also far north across Vietnam. But Mr. Lindahl of Flightradar 24 said that the last radar contact had been at 1:19 a.m., less than 40 minutes after the flight began.

finding a lot of reports saying plane was aloft only 40 min's not 2 hours

a lot of strangeness going on with the incident
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39725421

There was some initial discrepancy as to when the plane went missing that may have delayed rescue efforts. The airline first claimed it had lost contact with flight MH370 at 2:40 a.m. local time (1:40 p.m. Eastern or 6:40 p.m. GMT), or two hours after takeoff. But Flightradar24, an online aircraft tracking service, says the plane went missing 40 minutes after takeoff. “It took 11 hours until about 03:00 UTC until a search and rescue operation was started in the area of Gulf of Thailand where Flightradar24 reported lost radar contact,” notes the website in a Facebook post. “It feels very frustrating that the incorrect reports of lost contact after 2 hours has made that Flightradar24 data of lost contact after 40 minutes, has been ignored for so many hours.” The Associated Press notes the plane was last seen on the radar at around 1:30 a.m. local time (12:30 p.m. Eastern) right before it entered Vietnam’s air traffic control.

The oil slick is 6 miles long--the one off the coast of Viet Nam.

That's a pretty big oil slick.

But where's the debris and such?

A six mile oil slick if it was in the right current isn't all that long. However, it's odd for a plane to just 'drop out' of the sky.

My lad is studying for his PPL, he's a hell of a lot smart with regard to aviation than myself. He said, "Pop, most planes crash on take off and landing. Unless something takes them out in the sky. It's not impossible, but not likely."

Remember the plane blown up over Lockerbie?

There was no real motive other than to blow up a plane full of people in that as an act of terrorism so that is another possible motive rather than anyone being a specific target.

That's a good point Bluebird. Definitely a possibility.
Just seems that "terrorism" has advanced past that kind of attack at this point. Maybe not.

Malaysia is an Islam country under sharia law. The country owns the airline and control the media. They know what happened but will not admit it. The circumstances in which the crash occurred will remain "unsolved". Just like Malaysia flight 653 in 1977.

Malaysian Airlines System Flight 653 (MH653) was a scheduled domestic flight from Penang to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, operated by Malaysian Airlines System. On the evening of 4 December 1977, the Boeing 737-2H6 aircraft (registered as 9M-MBD) flying the service crashed at Tanjung Kupang, Johor, in Malaysia.[1] It is the second deadliest—and was the first—fatal accident for Malaysia Airlines (as Malaysian Airlines System is now known), with all 93 passengers and 7 crew killed instantly.[2][3] The flight was apparently hijacked as soon as it reached cruise altitude. The circumstances in which the hijacking and subsequent crash occurred remain unsolved.

here is an interesting comment I found at the site listed below...the link above is all about it...interesting...

hoffrt 2 hours ago

Iridium Communications has a new service called Aireon that 5 major air navigation service providers (ANSP) have signed on for when it becomes operational in a few years (first satellite to be launched in 2015). Using the Iridium LEO (low earth orbit) constellation, this system will be able to track all planes (equipped with a transceiver) anywhere on the globe (pole to pole). NAV Canada, NAV Portugal, NATS (UK) and the Irish Aviation Authority have all signed up to be customers of this service (and in some cases, investors) while the US FAA is still analyzing the program. If AIREON were operational today (and the southeast Asian ANSPs were customers) we would know EXACTLY where the Malaysian plane went down…and in the event that there were potential survivors, rescue planes could be on the scene in fairly short order. With the present patchwork of radar and radio communications, it might be weeks if not months before we find the wreckage. The FAA should sign onto Aireon ASAP and encourage all ANSPs around the globe to act accordingly. By the time Aireon is fully operational in 2018, we will never see another column headlined “How can a Boeing….suddenly lose all contact”.

Iridium enables connections between people, organizations and assets to and from anywhere, in real time. Together with its ever-expanding ecosystem of partner companies, Iridium delivers an innovative and rich portfolio of reliable solutions for markets that require truly global communications.
