My introduction to the PC computer was in 1995-96 when I saw Turok, Dinosaur Hunter. Then came Half-Life. FPShooters we're being birthed.
Those 2 games got me into building high performance pc's for gaming. Next was:
Metal of honor, allied forces
Far cry
Crysis
System shock 2
Call of duty
Battlefield series
For me FPS games immerse me into the world they create , even at 58 years old.
