All animals (and even some insects)have a deposit in the frontal lobe called magnetite...it's a mineral that is deposited there from the foods we eat...it is magnetic...like the name would suggest. However, in humans...it's believed (by science)that this deposit is vestigial-in other words...not really used by humans (like our appendix)...but, in birds...it's VERY important to them...I'd have to say it's the ONE thing that makes birds...well...birds, with the inherited ability to sense the slightest changes in the atmosphere, especially when there is a storm...an eruption...or an earthquake.

Science is kind of changing it's mind on Human Magnetite function...too many instances of people "feeling" when things were about to happen meteorogically...it's about time, I say.
