When a phone is turned off and you call it, it goes right to voice mail. But when you call it and it is on but just not answered, it rings several times before going to voice mail.

In other words, if battery is dead, phone is off, or phone is broken (as i under water, for instance), then you have no ringing, it just just goes right to voice mail. If it is on, battery working, and phone not broken (not at bottom of the sea), then you hear four or five rings before it goes to voice mail.

Finally!!! I have thought that it could have flown to Burma. I did not check the mileage on that because I am not that motivated. However, since it seemed to turn around, and they lost all comms, it makes sense tome that we will see the plane again used as a giant weapon. The plane thing seems to work for the terrorists, probably why they keep doing it. As I asked on another thread...would you let that plane land at your airport of it reappeared? Totally just a feeling and speculation.

1. As our resident pilot said - there is no information out there detailing exactly how much fuel there was on board. They must keep track of that stuff.

2. If the plane was taken to be used in another purpose - it would have to be terrorists. Countries can just buy a plane and repaint it. Or a false flag from a country - still terrorism.

So what if the family members had the same carrier as their passenger loved one? When I put my phone on airplane mode or turn it off off and call from my husbands phone it goes straight to vm under both circumstances. Same goes for when I call it from a land line under both circumstances or when I call it from another carriers cellphone though . I've tried all of the above over the last few days just to see.

Would also need to know how fast the jet was traveling

The Malaysian ambassador to China has received confirmation from the Malaysian military that it detected a rogue aircraft but denied rumours it was shot down.

Iskandar Sarudin, faced with the frustrated families of Chinese passengers, called up an unidentified military source to dispel rumours from social media that the aircraft was shot down – and that it could have been the Beijing-bound flight.

Speaking at a Malaysia Airlines morning briefing for families on Thursday at Beijing’s Lido Hotel, Sarudin was bombarded by questions from concerned relatives.

The military confirmed spotting the unidentified aircraft on their radar about an hour and 20 minutes after MH370’s signal went cold on Saturday, the ambassador said, relaying the information.

On news it was shot down, the families pressed, “Yes or no?”, until the Malaysian military official gave a categorical “no”, the Beijing Times reported.

However, a Malaysia Airlines representative at the same briefing said the military had not determined if it was the missing airplane, Beijing Times and The Mirror reported.

The military official said the rogue aircraft was not deemed a threat, otherwise it would have notified its response teams, The Mirror quoted the ambassador as saying.

The press was barred from the briefing, but some mainland correspondents managed to get accounts and pictures from the event. They posted these on their newspapers’ Sina Weibo accounts.

The families also asked about the mental health of the pilots, Captain Zaharie Shah and co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid. Shah had more than 18,300 hours of flight experience while Hamid had 2,800 hours.

Malaysia Airlines said their investigation into the crew had not brought up anything unusual.

if that guy on the oil rig is correct - the plane was descending while on fire - the pilot could have just flick the mayday switch. unless the fire has burnt that switch panel.

Trent engines have their own comm link sending real-time performance data back to the UK via VHF or satellite. That data is somewhere.

If it was hijacked by someone other than the flight crew, wouldn't one of the pilots have attempted to send out the code for a hijacking before the flight was completely taken over? (I know maybe there wasn't enough time..). This makes me think that one of the flight crew took this plane somewhere.
