I still don't know why this pilot or any hijacker would go to this extent simply to crash a plane into the Indian Ocean. Why not just commit suicide along the original flight path? Why fly five hours out of the way?

Suicide was not the objective...

But if they do find wreckage in the Indian Ocean, why would the pilot, or the hijacker (if there is one), go to all this trouble if they were going to end up crashing into the Indian Ocean? Is it possible that the hijacker (if there is one), was just dumb enough to think he had enough fuel to get to India and just came up a bit short? I can't see the pilot, who had a flight simulator in his house, being dumb enough to hatch this plan and attempt to fly to India or Pakistan and then just run out of fuel in the Indian Ocean. And if suicide was the objective, why commit suicide in the Indian Ocean?

If what interpol is looking into is true.

Several mistakes could of been made.

Somehow I'm not buying that angle. It's a possible lead, but it feels like a reach to me. Why would a guy with a PHD just decide to hijack a plane, and put it on a flight path that results in a crash in the Indian Ocean? And how did he hijack the plane by himself? Did he have a gun? Bombs? I think someone would have tried to tackle him...one guy traveling on his own can't easily hijack a plane all by himself.
