(((BREAKING VIDEO UP)))North Korea Accelerates Preparation For Missile Launch That Can Hit US, Missile Is Now Fueled!
[link to times.hankooki.com]

Continuous preparations at a North Korea intercontinental ballistic missile launch site are leading U.S. officials to believe the North will go ahead with a missile test, possibly as early as this weekend, Reuters reported Friday.

``The North Koreans have been working on it for a while without much of a let up. We think they are speeding up,¡¯¡¯ Reuters quoted an anonymous U.S. official as saying.

The official said there were many people working at the test site, and hinted that the assembly of Taepodong 2 missile components on the launch pad may have begun.

If the North does carry out the test, it will be in violation of an agreement Japan reached with North Korea in 2002, Japan's chief cabinet secretary, Shinzo Abe, said Friday.

The North fired a Taepodong 1 missile over Japan in 1998.

Japanese media began reporting activity at the launch site in early May, and whether or not the North would carry out a test has been a top news issue in the South Korean media since early this week.

South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ban Ki-moon urged the North Wednesday not to carry out the test on the grounds that it will further delay the six-party talks to end the North¡¯s nuclear program.

American Ambassador to Seoul, Alexander Vershbow, said Wednesday that the United States would view the test ``as a very serious matter,¡¯¡¯ and ``would take appropriate measures in response.¡¯¡¯

North Korea does not currently have an operational missile that can strike the United States and some officials believe Pyongyang will conduct the test to find out if this missile works, Reuters reported.

The Taepodong 2, the two-stage successor to the 2,500-km range Taepodong 1, has an estimated maximum range of 6,700 km that would make it capable of reaching Alaska.

U.S. intelligence estimates that a three-stage version of the missile would be able to hit ``most of the continental United States,¡¯¡¯ according to a recent report by Monterey Institute¡¯s Center for Non- proliferation Studies.

But the report stressed the missile¡¯s `` probable inaccuracy¡¯¡¯ and the fact that the North has not demonstrated an ability to make a nuclear weapon small enough to fit a missile warhead.

Report: North Korea to Fire Missile
TOKYO — North Korea could be preparing to fire a missile in the latest of several launchings in recent years, according to news reports Friday.

A missile was moved close to a launch site in northeastern North Korea in recent days, Japan's national broadcaster NHK said. The report quoted unnamed South Korean government officials, which cited satellite photographs.

CountryWatch: North Korea

Japan's Kyodo News agency carried a similar story, attributing it to a "source familiar with the North Korean situation."

Defense analysts say such movement could indicate preparations for a launch. The reports said there was no indication when that would occur.

There was no official confirmation: Japanese defense officials weren't answering phones Friday morning, the U.S. military in South Korea refused to comment, and South Korea's government said it was checking the reports.

North Korea shocked Japan in 1998 by blasting a Taepodong-1 missile over its territory and into the Pacific Ocean. The North said it

North Korea is next and not Iran. How I know isn't important but over the next week you will see a realignment of US forces. Keep your eyes open.

The tussle is over central Asia (a good overview in the next link)... In the middle of last year Russia and the Russian republics backed up by the Shanghi Cooperation Organization wanted a timetable for the U.S. to get out of bases in Central Asia north of Afghanistan (you can look that up for yourselves, but it was posted on GLP).

America is apparently turning up the heat with these war games (Arabian Gauntlet, Valient Shield, Rim of the Pacific near hawaii) on this oil rich region of the Caspian Sea and one doesn't know when the trigger will be pulled.

"Do you mean the B52 bombers with their nuclear payload are enroute from Michigan, diego garcia and guam?"

1. I don't think we would send B52's from Mich.
2. I wouldn't tell you if I knew.
3. Don't think operations only transpire in hours.

That was said in relation to Iran, but the game plan may have shifted eastwards with the removal of the carriers from the Persian Gulf.

US General Says NK Missile Is Threat to Global Security

By Jung Sung-ki
Staff Reporter
The commander of United States ground troops in South Korea said Friday that North Korea's missile activities have a negative effect on not only Northeast Asian security, but also on global peace.

Gen. David P. Valcourt, commander of the 8th U.S. Army stationed here also complained that the U.S. military would not be able to maintain its Air Force assets in the country unless an air-to-surface firing range is secured.

Valcourt was speaking at a breakfast meeting organized by the Korean-American Association in a hotel in downtown Seoul that was attended by 150 business leaders.

A possible North Korean test of a long-range ballistic missile is rattling South Korea, Japan and the United States, all of which have been paying keen attention to the communist country's missile activities for weeks.

KPA Air Force Command Warns against U.S. Ceaseless Military Provocations
Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The Air Force Command of the Korean People's Army released today the following report on the ceaseless military provocation perpetrated by the U.S. imperialist warmongers: The U.S. imperialist warmongers committed one more military provocation by infiltrating a strategic reconnaissance plane into the sky above the DPRK's economic waters on June 16.
At around 8:00 Friday an "RC-135" of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces illegally intruded into the sky above the waters of the DPRK east of Chongjin, Hwadae and Riwon and spied on its strategic targets for hours, being refueled in the midair.
The ceaseless illegal intrusions of their strategic reconnaissance planes on spy missions have created an imminent danger of military clash in the sky above those waters.
The KPA Air Force warns them once again that should those planes persist in their reckless air espionage despite its repeated warnings, they will not be able to escape the same end as that of a tiger moth fated to perish in the flames and the responsibility for that will wholly rest with the U.S. imperialist warmongers.

1998 Commission to Assess the Ballistic Missile Threat to the United States
Appendix III: Unclassified Working Papers
North Korea

David Wright provided the most in depth analysis of North Korea's ballistic
missile programs of the roundtable participants. He provided the following
conclusions about North Korea's ballistic missile capabilities:

Short-Range Scud-type missiles

North Korea reverse engineered a Soviet Scud B Missile and began producing
its own version of the missile that could carry a 1000 kg payload 300 km.
In the late 1980's the DPRK developed the longer range Scud Mod-C with a
700 kg warhead and 500 km range. According to reports, this missile has
been sold to both Iran and Syria.

No Dong

In the late 1980's, the DPRK began development on the No Dong I, a missile
with a range of 1000-1300 km, and a payload of 1000 kg. Wright noted that
the missile is based on Scud technology, and that it is powered by a
cluster of four Scud engines. The missile probably has a detachable
warhead, and has a CEP of 2000-4000 meters, although engine clustering
would reduce its accuracy.

The only test flight of the No Dong has taken place to a range of 500 km,
many analysts agree that it may be used in an act of desperation during a
crisis. The U.S., however, would almost certainly not consider this missile
operational without one full range test. Wright concludes that the missile
has faced serious technical problems. In his view, the lack of Nodong test
flights since 1993 creates a window of opportunity for the United States to
reach a deal with the DPRK before the missile experiences additional test
flights and is sold abroad.

Taepo Dong I and II

The Taepo Dong I has an estimated range/payload of 1500-2000 km/1000 kg and
looks like a Scud second stage and a Nodong first stage. The Taepo Dong II
is reported to have a longer range of 3,500 to 6,000 km. Wright believes
that the missile has a Nodong for a second stage on top of a large
first-stage booster which has the same dimensions as a Chinese DF-3.

He believes that North Korea will face a number of serious technical
hurdles in developing a missile with the range of the Taepo Dong II. First,
the Nodong missile is so heavy that using it as the second stage would
limit the missile's range. Second, using the Nodong as the second stage
would give the Taepo Dong II a large length to diameter ratio, which could
create structural problems during the boost phase. Third, since the Nodong
has four engines, it would be less reliable than the single-engine Scud Mod
C or a single engine stage based on the engine used for the first stage.

Wright concludes that if the DPRK is developing the Taepo Dong version that
has been identified as the missile mockup, the missile does not make
technical sense. This raises serious questions about the technical
competence of North Korean missile engineers, and would suggest that the
program is not as advanced as previously thought. Wright asserted that
North Korea may not have a credible Taepo Dong II program.

Wright also argued that the international community may have considerably
more leverage over North Korea than previously assumed in encouraging it to
make a deal regarding its missile programs. The United States may have the
ability to: force North Korea to end its missile sales to other countries;
encourage it to eliminate its missile program altogether; and, force it to
halt its missile sales, cap its missile program and stop future missile
development, but retain its existing missile capabilities. In addition, the
United States may be able to negotiate a ban on missile test flights in
order to impede development of the DPRK's ballistic missile programs.

Although he did not provide a technical analysis of North Korea's ballistic
missile programs, Selig Harrison asserted that the missile threat from
North Korea has been overblown. He asserted that the economic and political
complications in North Korea have handicapped the development and
production of the Taepo Dong. Harrison also concluded that North Korea
would be willing to bargain away its ballistic missile program in much the
same manner that it gave up its nuclear weapons program, for the right
price.

Robert Manning did not provide an analysis of North Korea's ballistic
missile programs. He did, however, assert that North Korea's proliferation
behavior has been extremely problematic for international nonproliferation
efforts, especially in the Middle East. He stated that there is evidence of
a symbolic relationship in which cooperation with Middle Eastern nations
has facilitated the development of North Korean missile technology, as well
as missile-production capabilities in Syria and Iran.

If we are attacted what you most limkly will see is an EMP attack where a nuck is denotated high in the atmosphere to do as much damage to our grid as possible. You don't need to knock out a city, that would be pure suicide with a gargantuan responce. We could be down for months even years. Your 401K gone in a nanosecond, power lines fried cell phones down the whole dam grid down and fried. I heard a few months ago thats what Iran was planning for us and I heard it from a reliable source. Now I know we are talking Korea, but lets not forget the grand game of chess going on. US within range of North Korean missiles

by Bosun on 06-17-06 @ 3:12 pm Filed under War On Terror, History, News
Fox News and other US news media is reporting that North Korea is preparing to test missiles with the potential to hit the United States. This should come as no suprise and has been in the works for several years. It appears that the United States mainstream media (MSM) is finally waking up to Democratic People’s Republic of (North) Korea (DPRK) missile technology.

Information about DPRK missile system technology has been reported in the Japan’s Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai (NHK), or the Japan Broadcasting Corporation for several years. Japan is very aware of the DPRK missile threat because Japan has been within the targeting range of North Korea missile systems since the late 1990s.

Throughout the Clinton Presidential years (January 1993 - January 2001), North Korea succeeded in developing its “Nodong” missile and nuclear programs. By 1998 DPRK’s “Nodong” missile had a range estimated at up to 900 miles and was capable of covering South Korea and most of Japan.

In the United States, the Americans in the dark about the DPRK (and their partner Iran) missile programs. DPRK and Iranian programs have paralleled each other since the 1990s. The following is a brief primer on DPRK’s Taep’o-dong programs:

The Taep’o-dong 1 is a medium-range, liquid and solid propellant, single warhead ballistic missile.

The missile is said to be capable of carrying a nuclear warhead to a maximum range of 2,000 km (1,243 miles). This missile has been in development since 1990 and with advance testing and a successful first test launch in 1998. Apparently Iranian and Pakistani personnel were involved in the first test launch. Source: Missile Threat.Com - Taep’o-dong 1

The development of the Taep’o-dong 2 is estimated to have begun at the same time as the Taep’o-dong 1, in 1990.

The Taep’o-dong 2 missile is a 2-stage liquid, possible 3-stage, with a range of 6,000-9,000 km. Pakistan and Iran have jointly received technical assistance on their missile projects which are derivatives of DPRK’s Taep’o-dong 2 project. The Iranian Shahab-5/Shahab 6 is similar in technology and in design to the Taep’o-dong 2. It is expected that proliferation of DPRK technology will pass to other countries in the same manner as their other weapons programs. Source: Missile Threat.Com - Taep’o-dong 2

In August 6, 2003, Japan’s Sankei Shimbun newspaper reported that DPRK and Iran were negotiating a deal for the export of DPRK’s long-range Taep’o-dong 2 missiles to Iran. Apparently they were also working jointly in development of nuclear warheads. Source: FAS org - CRS Issue Brief for Congress August 27, 2003

ANALYSIS
N. Korea: rattling sabers or our safety?
The nuclear 'axis' member is poised to test missile that could reach United States

WASHINGTON -- North Korea's steps toward test-firing an intercontinental missile are bringing sudden attention to the most-neglected member of President Bush's "axis of evil." The test could jeopardize disarmament talks and create a nuclear crisis in the region.
The United States on Friday warned North Korea against testing such a missile, saying it would be a "provocative act."
While the Bush administration has focused most of its recent attention on Iran's nuclear programs, many arms professionals insist the North Korea threat is more immediate.
"They probably increased their nuclear arsenal by six to eight weapons while President Bush has been in office," said Michael O'Hanlon, a national security analyst at the Brookings Institution. "And, meanwhile, Iraq and Iran have made a grand total of zero weapons."
A U.S. government official said Friday that North Korea is accelerating preparations for testing a missile that has the potential to strike the United States. A test of the Taepodong-2 long-range missile may be imminent, the official said.
The official agreed to speak but only on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information.
North Korea tested an earlier version in 1998, and it caused a worldwide uproar.
That missile flew over Japan. But its third stage failed to ignite and pieces plunged into the northwestern Pacific Ocean. Now, Western experts fear North Korean engineers have improved the technology.
Bush linked North Korea, Iran and prewar Iraq as an "axis of evil" in his January 2002 State of the Union speech. But the weapons of mass destruction Bush claimed Iraq had were never found. And Iran isn't thought to have any, but its uranium enrichment program is the center of attention.
Iran insists its nuclear program is for generating electricity and not making weapons. North Korean officials, by contrast, boast they already have the atomic bomb.
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said that the U.S. and its allies have "made clear to North Korea that a missile launch would be a provocative act that is not in their interests and will further isolate them from the world."
Such a launch would be inconsistent with a moratorium on tests declared by North Korean President Kim Jong Il in 1999 and renewed in 2002, McCormack said. Still, North Korea has tested many short-range missiles.
White House national security adviser Stephen Hadley said this week it would be a "bad idea" for North Korea to test a long-range missile and called for a return to arms talks.
But those talks -- among North and South Korea, China, Japan, Russia and the United States -- have been stalled for months.
In moving toward missile tests, North Korea may just be saber rattling. But the menacing gestures could make it even harder to get the six-nation talks restarted.
"If North Korea conducts tests, it is unlikely the talks will resume anytime soon," said Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association.

North Korea prepares to test missile that can reach USA
[link to www.mumbaimirror.com]

ONE HOUR OLD

Seoul: North Korea loaded booster rockets onto a launch pad, preparing to test as early as Sunday a missile that might be able to reach the US mainland, media reported.

The reports follow US government warnings that the communist North is accelerating preparations to test a Taepodong-2 missile.

A US government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Friday that a test may be imminent. South Korea's Chosun Ilbo newspaper said intelligence authorities of Seoul and Washington had made the assessment, based on satellite images, that the North had loaded booster rockets onto a launch pad and moved 10 large tanks of liquid fuel close by.

The Taepodong-2 is a three-stage missile, but the warhead section hadn’t been loaded yet, the paper said, quoting an unidentified high-level South Korean government official. South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Choo Kyu-ho couldn't confirm the report.

Japan’s Foreign Minister and the US ambassador to Japan on Saturday called North Korea’s possible missile test a provocative action, and Tokyo urged Pyongyang through diplomatic channels not to proceed with the launch, news reports said.

Japan’s Foreign Minister Taro Aso and US Ambassador to Japan Thomas Schieffer met on Saturday evening.

Japan’s concern can be traced back to 1998, when North Korea test-fired a Taepodong-1 ballistic missile over northern Japan, claiming it was a satellite launch. There were reports that Japan had dispatched two Aegis destroyers to the Sea of Japan and Pacific Ocean.

Re: (((BREAKING VIDEO UP)))North Korea Accelerates Preparation For Missile Launch That Can Hit US, Missile Is Now Fueled!
It seems the next 5 days are worrisome, if they launch and its heading towards the USA, will we try to shoot it down and if so, in what stage of launch. Missles are their most vurnable during early launch stage as they are moving realitively slow. Where's Ronnie Raygun when you need him.

U.S., Japan urge N. Korea not to test-fire missile

Both Japan and the United States are warning North Korea against testing a new long-range missile capable of reaching North America.

"There is no good that can come from launching a North Korean missile. It will only isolate the North Koreans further from the rest of the international community," Thomas Schieffer, the U.S. ambassador to Japan, said Saturday.

Eight years ago, the rogue communist regime stunned the world when it fired a long-range missile over Japan and into the Pacific Ocean.

North Korea has observed a self-imposed moratorium on such tests since 1999, and its regional neighbors want that to continue.

The North Korean government has denied a test of the Taepodong-2 missile is imminent, but a South Korean newspaper reported Saturday that about 10 fuel tanks have been moved to the launch site. However, a South Korean foreign ministry spokesman couldn't confirm the report.

The Kyodo News agency of Japan reported Saturday that the North Koreans plan to describe the missile test as a satellite launch.

The North Koreans described the 1998 missile test as a satellite launch.

Political backdrop

North Korea is one of the world's two nuclear proliferation hotspots. The other is Iran.

There have been talks involving six nations -- North and South Korea, China, Russia, Japan and the United States -- but those have stalled by a North Korean boycott.

"We hope the North Koreans will not take this provocative action, we hope they will return to the six-party talks, those talks can still be productive," Schieffer said.

Most international attention in recent months have been on Iran's nuclear program, which Tehran insists is for peaceful purposes -- although the international community fears Iran intends to make nuclear weapons.

Some analysts say North Korea's actions may simply be posturing as international attention shifts to Iran.

For one thing, the U.S. has backed a proposal for Iran that would include light-water nuclear power -- something denied North Korea.

If North Korea goes ahead with the test, Schieffer would only say, "all options are on the table."

Taro Aso, Japan's foreign minister, described the situation as serious.

"How they respond is up to them," he said of the North Koreans.

North Korea is denying this to ABC News, I think this could be a set up for a false flag.

Articles are saying that they plan this test for the same day that Government officials are headed for bunkers!
