What is with Firefox browser?? | |
gnomonist User ID: 2021998 United States 03/14/2014 09:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I use Windows 8 (sadly) and Firefox browser 27.0.1 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55571572 Firefox seems to crash quite often on me - usually with many tabs open - not sure if that matters. Then I get a window that says Firefox crashed and a button to click to re-start Firefox. Annoying as hell. Also, my bank's online software has a few menus that do not seem to be active when I use it. But, I'm sure those buttons would work on Explorer or Google Chrome. However Firefox seems to be a bit weird in little ways - I wonder why? And it seems to be difficult to find, even at Firefox's own website, exactly what version of Firefox is the latest. There is a place to update your browser to the latest version, and you can find out after you updated by looking at the About Me window. However, see if you can find a declaration or statement anywhere online, that definitively tells you what the latest version of Firefox is. Please provide a link if you find it. I like Firefox, but would love to see improvements in these areas. p.s. google chrome and microsoft explorer are just not smart or prudent. You already answered your own question. The issue is not with Firefox. It is with (sadly) Microsoft. Back in my Microsofting days, every other update of Firefox was incompatible with something in Microsoft, and certain features were shut off automatically. I did not have this problem once since using Linux the last few years. As conspiriacy theorists on forums like this, you really ought to give up Microsoft. To be a conspiracy theorist and use Microsoft is like trusting what the government and mainline media says. It just does not go together. I like prophecy, conspiracies, mathematics, astronomy, anything relating to time, and I am a gnomonist (look that one up!) |

I had same issues on Vista and FF, upgraded the Adobe plug in and it is much better now. |

Quoting: lightchild_uk I normally have 75 tabs open, with my PC running 24x7 and Firefox crashes about once a week. Just restart it and restore session and I am running again. I did have lots of problems of Windows completely freezing and having to cold bot when in Firefox, but that was a problem with Nvidia graphics drivers. Think FF has a well know memory leak so weekly crash with dozens of tabs open is not surprising. Ghostery add-on is awesome. I remember a few years ago suddenly the versions started to follow eachother in a tremendous pace, starting before 10 I think and then you just couldn't follow them anymore, you had to update to a new version almost one after the another, and it renamed for some time to "Aurora". Remember ? This is very bizarre in itself, without any other evidence of issues. |
