You Jehovah's Witnesses are fucking psycho. These things happen, and are extremely unfortunate, but at least the people that received blood transfusions will be able to spend at least one more day with their family. Whereas they would have died had they not received the blood. |

Hardly so many other substances can be used as blood volume expanders without the bio-hazard saving lives safely, You cannot pump someone full of LR. If you give a patient too much LR, or even NS, you will cause a fluid overload. Note that LR cannot be used with blood transfusions. The same goes for colloids so the problem is not limited to crystalloids. When someone has lost a large amount of blood, there is not better replacement than human blood. Yes NS is used along with human blood, but you cannot just fill the patient with only a crystalloid or colloid. Your `religion' forbids it. Which is very sad because many lives are coming to a premature end for no reason other than fanaticism. |

Transfused blood is dead decaying foreign bio matter rejected by the immune system as an invader, with or without diseases and can neither feed, clean, or oxygenate the patients cells. Surgical teams wear latex gloves and face masks for protection from it (while injecting it into patients)because they don't know what may come with it, only that those selling it are usually in difficult situations circumstances, and left over blood is labeled bio-hazard. What about sea water, sounds strange but how much of it can be used and for how long? Must have complications, it won't oxygenate either but is free from bacteria and viruses.
