We just need to be able to be self sustaining in communities and work for eachother rather than The Man.

Nitrogen is best. Pigs doesn't know what hits it then you stick it.

Poor pigs. Especially the last one since it had sound.

That's pretty fucked up. You could see the convulsions start almost immediately. The high CO2 levels burn the eyes and the lungs. This is death by suffocation and it is extremely painful. At least this pig was not vomiting, but that is also symptomatic.

Under Mosaic law it is unlawful to eat anything drowned or strangled. This falls withing those guidelines from a medical/toxicological/neurochemical stand point.

Yes, obviously I know pork is also forbidden, duh.

One point about this video. In one point there's the sound of pigs screaming, and the narrator says that those are not the sound from the really uncomfortable looking pigs that they were showing, but the screams of the group that was ahead of them. That must have been a horrifying moment for the pigs that they were showing, since being the same species, they must recognize screams of distress. Also considering the environment that they were in, and how uncomfortable and agitated they were.

Using CO2 is wrong on so many levels.

However a mixture of Nitrogen and Helium does a great job.
They die without noticing it.

Seems to me like they could kill the pig with nitrous oxide - put it to sleep, then change the mixture to pure nitrogen or something so that it would die, but be made unconcious first.

There was a BBC documentary a while back where Michael Portillo showed that a form of this was the best way to kill both animal and human.

I od'd on helium at a party, did too much for too long(it was free) and woke up on the ground, no warning of any kind, here one minute, gone the next..

If the pig is flopping around like a fish out of water, wouldn't the meat be damaged?

Killing is never humane.

At one point in time we had to eat animals because plants/crops simply didn't grow during harsh winters.
It was that or starving.

Over time it has become so culturally ingrained that we do believe we need meat to survive.
And people with certain B vitamin deficiencies are very much encouraged not to become vegetarians in fear of risking their health. So I guess there would be some truth to that.

Your best guess .. don't judge people for their personal choices. You can have your opinion and you are even allowed to voice it, don't abuse the liberty by condemning others.
Because it used to be different, very different. People used to be murdered in the streets for talking about something the majority didn't like .. and that too was culturally accepted back then.

You may call that savage. And maybe it is.
But its where we came from.

A clean shot to the head is the absolute most humane way to kill an animal that I am aware of.
