Texture of the animals seems too chromatic, shadows seem strange. Also why is there no shadow cast on the road from the snow poles?

Yes, they were and then almost went extinct. They are native here, but I don't know if they are protected species. They are majestic in person, but keep a good distance, they will gore you to death:
