That video looks to me as if the Buffalo are in an easy run going somewhere as a group ... not stampeding away from any danger.

I saw herds of Buffalo in Yellowstone running in an actual stampede type of running several times in my couple of times there, and in those instances the Buffalo were going all out in speed (and boy are they FAST in a flat out run). This behavior on the video does NOT strike me as anything out of the ordinary based upon my limited observations there.

One of the times I saw Buffalo stampeed I had to jump behind my suburban as an entire small herd of about 100 of them came running through the woods and the parking lot where I was at full speed, AT NIGHT IN THE DARK, knocking down small trees etc. as they came through. The only other guy in the parking lot jumped into the bed of his pickup truck in order to not be trampled to death.

Now that night time Buffalo stampede was both scarey ... and one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced in my entire life (btw they did not run into a single vehicle in the parking lot, although they were literally brushing the cars and trucks as they ran between them ... but boy were they sure running into small trees and bushes (probably couldn't see them in the dark). There were so many hitting the trees etc. that it sounded like a freight train coming through the woods even before they reached me!, starting at a low rumble building to a huge rumble with the earth literally shaking beneath my feet as they ran past me inches away.

The other Buffalo stampedes I saw in Yellowstone were during the day and were what you would more typically imagine them to be ... just running across open ground and down the open road as a large group, but at full tilt, not the relaxed gait that the video Buffalo had.

That video looks fake.

Something to monitor closely.

I'm impressed by the Buffalo's stamina running uphill.
