Russia and its friends have significant cyberwar capabilities. They have the ability to damage or crash the financial system, military communications, electric grid etc.

Putin will wait to see what Obama does as the heat is turned up on him domestically. All Putin has to do is wait and there's a good chance Obama will give him the pretext he needs to extend his power. Meanwhile, he can consolidate Crimea. The only thing that might bail Obama out now is a false flag, which is why I expect one any day now.

This may be Russia's ace. But I wonder why they haven't played it yet.

The possible explanations I can come up with are that 1) Russia needs to keep this as the ultimate bargaining chip because they don't have another one, 2) Russia fears USA will invade should this happen and they aren't prepared to deal with that possibility or 3) There are certain influential players in Russia who profit from the petrodollar.

We've been joking about this throughout the thread, but the lyrics are scarily relevant.

If Putin and Obama are in it together, why all the war and lapses of diplomacy? Wouldn't it be easier and less costly to use the economic and military power of both sides to achieve their ends? Then there would never be a veto in the UN security council and a lot more would get done.
