Maybe you are so young that you don't know about the old studio system. In that system, the actors "belonged" to the studio by contract. The studios then worked them hard and they had to do the studio's bidding. Nowadays, the actor is more of a free agent. The old system offered more job security, but not as much potential for big bucks. I think that she is saying that she has a group of people who are making opportunities for her much like in the the old days.
