Are you kidding? It took the United States 19 years to defeat Iraq, 1991-2010. Baghdad could not be entered until 2003 when the US learned that there were no longer any chemical weapons after years of UN inspections that disarmed Iraq. Had there still been chemical weapons, Saddam would still be in power. It took Iran 8 years to force Saddam to stop trying to invade Iran because the US was supplying Iraq with chemical weapons and intelligence on the Iranians. The OP is correct. Americans cannot believe that Iran is building an aircraft carrier because they are blinded by their arrogance. The New York Times is saying that this is a 2/3 model of a Nimitz class carrier to be used for target practice or propaganda. This is ridiculous. If you look at the satellite image, the outline of the vessel looks nothing like a US aircraft carrier. What you can tell from the image is that the runway has been extended from the hull of the ship. You can also see the slanted portion where the aircraft would land. This carrier more closely resembles Russian aircraft carrier design. These have a runway that slants upwards when the aircraft leaves the deck. They say that this thing doesn't have a nuclear power plant. It probably doesn't, but how would they know. They pulled that out of their ass. Most likely this is an actual aircraft carrier possibly powered by diesel.

And yes how many hundreds of thousands of civiliand killed and mamed as with all illegal US wars.....Russia can take over Crimea without a single shot...
