And just in the last few hours had reached an alarming voice that spoke of a possible contagion to Lampedusa, but in the end the news was denied by saying that it was a case of food poisoning. My 2 cents*** I just wish the British government would man up and do more than simply putting the hospitals on "Ebola alert". you must be joking. Someone is going to panic! "If you're going to panic, panic first" Keeping politics out of epidemiology is always a challenge... Unfortunately, I think you're correct - the nationalists will latch onto this as a "see, we told you so" opportunity to create a pivot-point for upcoming elections. So even if a case of Hemorrhagic Fever is never confirmed in Italy, the political fallout from the *threat* of it will have social and economic impact. Like I have previously stated, this uncontained outbreak scenario is the single best means for TPTB to obtain a great leap forward towards their utopic dream of a "unified", tightly controlled world. Quoting: goodmockingbird This quote just sums up the lack of humanity at times on this site, I wonder should Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) become a member of goodmockingbird community would they be fine with & I quote... ...let Nature take its course!!! Idiot, you are... goodmockingbird & shame on you for making such a cold inhumane statement. If, a natural disaster directly impacted you how would you like it if the Government, UN or NGO's just said... ...let Nature take its course!!! Actually... yes I would. Were I infected, I would proactively quarantine myself, cooperate to locate potentially infected contacts, request a heftly dose of morphine and do the right thing. Again and again, high mortality hemoraghic fevers have emerged out of Africa. The rest of the world has lost the will to shut the door. The misery spreads. Inhumane? Spreading the disease is inhumane. Containing it is necessary... and ultimately merciful to the rest of the world who do not live with it spreading among them. And natural disaster does strike quite regularly here in central OK. We prepare for it. We rebuild from tornados, ice storms, and fires. We prepare. For something like ebola... quarantine is both necessary, and ultimately merciful. I Support Our First Responders |

whiteangel also known at WA User ID: 54218278 United States 04/18/2014 03:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I haven't been around for two days so this might have already been posted about. Sorry if it has. West Africa Ebola confirmed in outbreak is new strain. April 2014 – AFRICA – The Ebola virus in western Africa is a novel strain that probably evolved locally and circulated for months before the outbreak became apparent, researchers said. The index case is probably a 2-year-old child from Guinea’s Guéckédou prefecture who died Dec. 6, 2013 — several months before the outbreak was recognized in March, according to Stephan Günther, MD, of the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany, and colleagues. The findings come from an early epidemiological “look-back” and genetic examination of virus samples from 15 patients, Günther and colleagues reported online in the New England Journal of Medicine. The report comes as the World Health Organization is reporting that the outbreak now includes 202 suspected or confirmed cases — 168 in Guinea, 28 in Liberia, and six in Mali. There have been 121 deaths. Meanwhile, the health ministry in Guinea was optimistic that the worst is over. A spokesman told reporters the rate of new cases has slowed dramatically in Guinea and the outbreak is nearly under control. Thought you where asking why do we feel it was going to explode.... ill leave cuz I typed it but you can ignore it. lol ----- In the beginning of this thread Battlesight did some modeling and projections. Those projections were fitting pretty much dead on with what we were see'ing. Then we received news reports that the US DOD was getting involved and at that point a Media black out was put in place. No more numbers were really being reported. We got confirmation from a Reuters piece that at least one country is with holding death toll numbers to keep people from panicking. Couple that with several stories of cases out side the infected areas and the reaction from several country's actively going after people who report on the bug. It gives us a cloudy picture, but a picture all the same that apears to still fit inline with the models BSZ laid out. You can read the thread to get where we should be on specific numbers and timelines for when it could reach specific regions/country's.
