They already believe it is going to be spreading to Liberia because of commerce... Quoting: Em18966 This is from aljazeera.com "Ebola, one of the world's most virulent diseases, was first discovered in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 1976 and the country has had eight outbreaks. The most recent epidemic, in the DRC, infected 62 people and left 34 dead between May and November 2012, according to the country's health ministry. There are fears it could be used in a biological weapons attack. According to researchers, the virus multiplies quickly, overwhelming the immune system's ability to fight the infection. A medic in Monrovia told AFP on condition of anonymity that Liberia was at considerable risk from the disease. "We have a 90 percent chance of having cases in Monrovia because about 80 percent of goods on the Liberian market come from Guinea," he said." [link to www.aljazeera.com] So. Not. Good. Understatement. Goods ARE exported from Liberia. And aren't all the tankers, freighters, and cruise ships flying the Liberian flag (probably for tax purposes, sort of like Delaware, maybe)? . |

All shipments banned a big fence around that country Quoting: Moonkiy Build a fifty foot high electrified fence across Africa barely south of Egypt -- leaving just the Mediterranean coast and Nile accessable -- then stand back and let Nature take its course!!! May a tornado find you, and rip you limb from limb, you subhuman. Yeah, as long as they overrun Europe and not the United States of Dumbmerica it's fucking easy to be the big altruistic spokesman of PC garbage. Guess what ... If Europe goes broke, there won't be any more pharmaceutical options or doctors without borders to do anything. Eurabia or Eurafrica = end of civilization. International charity and its perverted effects ... poor sharia africans eating eachother's hearts and brains ... Boo hoo hoo This is a very valid point that I think very, very many people overlook. In this country (US) and most industrialized nations, as much as we shit talk on big pharma tons of people are totally dependent upon the pharmaceutical and medical communities like never before for their very survival. We artificially sustain life in a HUGE way in our modern times, and if we get into WWIII and/or get bombed back into pre-industrial society a lot of people are going to be dying off really, really quick. And/or their quality of life is going to go down the crapper. It will be ugly as fuck. How many people are on thyroid meds or other necessary daily meds? They are going to be the first to go... |

I couldn't think of proper wording for how not good it is and people are overlooking it. This isn't some tiny little outbreak in a village in a remote jungle. We are talking about a big hub of a port city being infected with ebola. That is like a nightmare situation. Worst case scenario. |

The good news is also exactly this. People catch the virus and die (very painfully) within 5 days. That means that if you can contain the virus for longer than 5 days it stops spreading. E.g no new people get infected within a 5 day timespan -> outbreak is defeated. Quarantine is the key with this done. HIV on the other hand can remain dormant or with minor effects mimicking other diseases for years ... Making it far more deadly. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 41255538 United States 03/22/2014 05:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ebola has popped up for about 40 years. It's been around a LOT longer than that, but the virus was identified back then. It's a level 1 bio-hazard and is very deadly. And, it's already been in the United States. In 1989, there was an outbreak in a primate research facility in Reston, Virginia. Fortunately, it didn't jump species...but if it HAD been a strain that was contagious to humans... Don't panic over this. Ebola happens. It's happened for decades. It generally happens in African villages with poor sanitation. This outbreak will die out, and in a few years, it'll happen again. Worry when you hear about it in New York, London, Tokyo, or someplace like that. |
Kirk User ID: 55955267 United States 03/22/2014 05:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I believe it comes from 'poopy'. homos love poopy xD ok serious now aids didn't do a good job maybe this will work, we just need to contain it in africa until we can find a way to protect whites :amazing: Aids was enabled by unhygienic practices, whitey dunnit. Ran over here too. Ebola kills you for breathing so you don't contain it without extreme effort. Government is a body largely ungoverned. |
