It even stored and produced in a definable a repeating geometric pattern by a functioning hive-mind with a lead head. You can't beat that. It's antibacterial in itself so keeps. |

Powdered soup mixes and the like are good for a decade if stored in a cool place. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48738384 Will it turn to hooch as is or would I have to add yeast? What are my timelines for things happening and what should I do with them do you reckon? Chances are it was pasteurized so likely no bacteria will ever grow. Get some black tea, sugar, and water, and make yourself some kombucha. Better tasting, better for you, and the alcohol content can be pretty high. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 68730242 United States 12/18/2016 06:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I opened a can of cheap luncheon meat that was 6 years out of date and it was perfectly fine, if you like salt. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73626521 95% of the food that is throw out because of the out-of-date is still good. Nobody should be eating stuff like this. The problem is the quality of food when it goes into the can, particularly meat products. I've stopped eating all 'fresh' lunchmeat because they have started putting something in it, a preservative or something, and I can taste it and smell it. It smells a lot like sanitizer spray that is used in food factories, may even be that. It has a slightly bitter, chemical flavor. I've also noticed a lot of odd smelling meats coming through: pepperoni is a prime offender and smells rotten once you get past the initial spice smell on it. <--Hormel, the little red bags. Any of that canned 'meat' is inedible at this point. I don't know what's in it, but don't eat it. There is a reason they put so much salt in there and it isn't preservation. |

I especially like #4: HARD LIQUOR "Distilled spirits —vodka, rum, whiskey, gin, tequila and the like — don’t spoil, even after opening. The taste and aroma may fade gradually, but it’ll take ages before you notice." Also: Definitely an necessary staple for world re-population. Will Break the monotony of the long, boring periods without GLP. Takes the edge off of wounds. (Drink it, don't pour it on the wound) Disinfectant (Only in an extreme emergency unless it is an oral injury) Can be used for fuel. (again, only in dire emergencies) Good for bartering. (For doobie, schrooms and other staples) Gin is the only spirit that goes off Gin starts 'off'. |
