EMAIL: 6/18/2006 1012 P.M. Pacific Standard Time [link to goes.gsfc.nasa.gov] What do you suppose are those beams that appear to rapidly "sweep" across the image (from east to west) about once every 12 hours? There seem to be two beams, one originating from Alaska, the other from Greenland, and they swem to sweep in succession. Any idea? [link to www.cyberspaceorbit.com]

Interesting Kent, I have never seen anything liek that before, i have no idea what these "beam" are but i noticesd that while one seems to seed the clouds the other that follow clear them...in alternance.. Is very strange indeed.

I agree w/ ac2303, only I believe its the sun rising and setting. Watch the time stamp. i AM -5 HOURS UT and it seems to agree with sunset and sunrise times in my time zone.

TRY IMAGINING THE 'BEAM' WAVE IS A LIGHTHOUSE BEAM, AND ESTIMATE THE SOURCE (FULCRUM) BASED ON THE ARC. YOU WILL NOTICE THE SOURCE SEEMS TO MOVE ABOUT. WATCH AS THE 'BEAM' PASSES PLAY IN SLOW MOTION AND WATCH THE CLOUDS APPEAR AND SHORTLY DISSIPATE.
