Over 100 missing/unaccounted for..UPDATE...Death toll expected to rise UPDATE...Death toll up to "at least 24"

This should be the lead story in the USA and it's not. The fact is, this killed hundreds of Americans and destroyed American property. Yet, they continue to distract with the plane nonsense, which has little to nothing to actually do with the USA and it's people. Absolute madness.

I LIVE 12 miles from where this horrific DISASTER happened. My two daughters just moved out of that area a short time ago. Many of their friends are dead or still missing. We are given three updates by emergency /recovery gentleman everyday since Saturday.

This same mountain side fell a few years ago, but did little damage. This time it was a literal nightmare, one that poor suffering people are still living through.

I went to a web site called skagiebreaking.com where just some of the pictures of the dead/missing are shown. One picture was of a missing family, MOM, DAD, and TWO VERY YOUNG BOYS.

Now, I want to warn everyone in the state of WASHINGTON and I beg you to take this WARNING VERY SERIOUS.

Like some of the top emergeny responders, I'm a person of faith [in JESUS CHRIST] For the past few weeks I've been thinking of how Washington state has not suffered any thing much, even though we are a basiclly a very sinful liberal state.

Well, yesterday, suddenly the following words popped into my mind.

"The slide is the beginning salvo."

I had no idea what that word SALVO meant, so I called my Pastor and my military brother. They both confirmed the words is MILITAY AND IT MEANS THE BEGINNING OF AN ATTACK. "As in the 'salvo' of cannons were fired toward the compound."

You see now this indicates that this state, and possibley the entire western part of this nation will soon be hit again and again.

Now, you can prepare by stocking up on food, water, blankets and so on; or not. You can turn your hearts toward Almighty God and the SAVIOR; or not . . . it is your choice.

This west and entire nation will begin to WILL REAP WHAT IT HAS SOWN. I am NOT saying the dear people who are suffering in the slide are sinners. This warning is given as a GENERAL WARNING TO THIS STATE, and possibly beyond. May God be merciful to us all, and save us from our sins by the MERCY of Jesus Christ. ****************

timber clear cutting in the hills over the towns
no trees to hold the soil in place when the rains come

Have family there, no one hurt, but a few of her FB friends in the area are missing..tragic.

Oh my god, this slide occurred because people are raping the land by clear-cutting the timber, not because "God is punishing the dirty, sinful, liberal state." Keep your pious religious views to yourself and think about the real people who have been lost to this natural disaster.

I don't know how to update my post! This is bad....could be really bad before it is over. They have no idea how many people are really gone. I believe it happened at 1245 pm local time on Saturday. There were repairing men doing there job....people just driving down the road where it came through. Just terrible!

this is not because trees were chopped down you ass-clown. i live in the area this is because we have had 200% of our average rainfall for march this is the third wettest march on rec for us in history and we still have a week left. Not to mention, the ground is nothing but river bed that collapsed. those hills are not formed on their own. This is why our valley is so fertile. That hillside was raring to fall for a long time. Just look at the 2006 slide. That was a good indication of soil stability then. Clear cutting is not responsible for this... tree hugger

They've being understating the death rates since Katrina, probably before then, but that's when I noticed. They sure glossed over Hurricane Ike, and the Colorado floods.

Today in modern America time has shown we are on our own during extremely difficult times , real Americans due step up and help from every direction though

You are correct. Most of the folks risking their lives trying to find victims are just your average citizens...not getting paid. Thank goodness those kind of people step up during the bad times.

Yes it is very sad and the fact our news are not covering this like they do other tragedies..hurricaines..bombings..etc. they are not covering it like they should. Kind of strange.
