Quoting: newsman1976 Air pollution kills about 7 million people worldwide every year, with more than half of the fatalities due to fumes from indoor stoves, according to a new report from the World Health Organization published Tuesday. The agency said air pollution is the cause of about one in eight deaths and has now become the single biggest environmental health risk. You apparently never used a woodstove to heat yourself during winter.. It can get very thick and harsh on the lungs, and that is just asking for some kind of lung disease. I constantly had to open my windows to let some fresh air in, even if it was freezing. I cant stand it either but neither can I stand cigarette smoke but I guess if you are use to it then you adjust to it.I spend the winter coughing due to asthma any way and smoke makes it so much worse.I love my fireplace but I cant burn it due to breathing issues. |

Cancer is a bad thing ... but more complex then banning wood burning stoves. wmMmw |

OMG..I almost forgot about heating homes with coal....can you imagine how bad that was??? Its a miracle that mankind hasn't become extinct by now. |

True but you sure had plenty of ventilation.cracks big enough to let the cat come through and houses wasnt jammed together.they were miles apart. We also had food that taste like food back then and it was actually good for you.I was raised in a home heated with coal.My mother died with lung issues and I and my sister have asthma. Now whether that contributed to it I dont know but thats all we had to heat with so thats what we used. |

I have used wood to heat with for over 20 yrs, with no problems. |

So, - a bunch of poorly-educated peoples burn fires in their homes, with no effective chimney to direct/extract the smoke out of their dwellings, and their health suffers due to chronic exposure to smoke particulates and carbon monoxide ... Instead of teaching these people how to burn hydrocarbons safely, the 'civilized' western world bows to the eco-nazi Agenda 21 goals, and proclaims that heating/cooking with fossil fuels is a crime. Alice-in-fucking-wonderland. We are here. |

Its time to sue the 2 families responsible for all this insanity. Rothchilds and Rockefellars. They are at the top of the pyramid and own everything. Its a trickle down effectand they are the Head of the Illuminati as well as Queen Beatrice. We will start a class action law suit and go for damages. Crimes against humanity. The United Nations is a Corporation owned by the Illuminati. We will include them in the law suit. We will take all their money and all their assets and use it to restore the Planet and fund Green Energy Technology that they have surpressed. These people put our lives in danger on a daily basis and we need to do somthing collectively. Fuck Them. They are nothing but out of control murdering sociopaths and criminals. |

Years of fuel for me, and if I leave them standing, they're a fire hazard. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27749494 I suppose I should just cut them and let them rot, then buy gas to heat my house. I have a better idea. I'll just burn all my old tires in the woodstove. That way, I won't be burning wood. |

They're not in "approved wood stoves" and they never filed environmental impact statements. These things plus "controlled burns" eclipse the problems with actually USING the energy from burning. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 55703922 France 03/25/2014 11:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The claim is preposterous and impossible to validate and as such is not applicable to anything. No matter what you do to it, wood will return to carbon dioxide from which it was created. There is no way you can stop this without generation even more pollution and destruction of environment to entomb it somehow. Wood is an essential element of the carbon cycle and you either use it for benefit or suffer for not utilizing it since wood will decay to Methane and eventually carbon dioxide no matter what you do. Man cannot live without CO2, that's what makes food. There is no substitute for it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 55703922 France 03/25/2014 11:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wood stoves do only what people make them do. Africans are too lazy and stupid to replant what they destroy for their food, too stupid to create efficient wood burning stoves or ovens, too stupid to create proper ventilation. In many regions they burn wood to keep mosquitos at bay and pollute their homes intentionally to prevent insect borne diseases. Its not the worlds fault that these people are ignorant and ignored by their leaders. Why is that anyone elses fault, why does the world suffer because of those claims and have to provide tribute to third parties who themselves live from extorted 'gifts'? Evolution is the way the defective get out of the way of the effective. Its how things were done countless years before man showed up. |
