War On Wood: WHO Claims 3.5 Million Killed From Woodstoves

I can somewhat see both sides.If you live near someone that burns wood and the smoke comes toward your house it makes for a very bad winter.I have spent money to insulate and bought thick curtains etc and my house still somehow smells like smoke all winter from the neighbor down the hill from me that burns wood.
We go out the back door trying to prevent it coming in if we open the front door.So while I understand the need to burn wood its a royal pita to those of us that have to live in a smoke stack each winter.

I cant stand it either but neither can I stand cigarette smoke but I guess if you are use to it then you adjust to it.I spend the winter coughing due to asthma any way and smoke makes it so much worse.I love my fireplace but I cant burn it due to breathing issues.

rather how does burning wood, relate to burning coal ...
ect. Cancer is a bad thing ... but more complex then banning wood burning stoves.

OMG..I almost forgot about heating homes with coal....can you imagine how bad that was??? Its a miracle that mankind hasn't become extinct by now.

Outsmart them now and build a thermal mass rocket stove that heats your home with twigs and puts out nada smoke.

True but you sure had plenty of ventilation.cracks big enough to let the cat come through and houses wasnt jammed together.they were miles apart.We also had food that taste like food back then and it was actually good for you.I was raised in a home heated with coal.My mother died with lung issues and I and my sister have asthma.Now whether that contributed to it I dont know but thats all we had to heat with so thats what we used.

Then you did not know how to operate it or had a faulty installation.
I have used wood to heat with for over 20 yrs, with no problems.

AQMD is taking out our beach fire rings in So Cal, claim 30 fire rings cause as much pollution as an oil refinery.
I'd like to see the facts of that study.

The Centralia, Pa underground coal fire is still burning out of control, and millions of acres of woodland burn each year out of control, and the EPA does nothing. They're not in "approved wood stoves" and they never filed environmental impact statements. These things plus "controlled burns" eclipse the problems with actually USING the energy from burning.

The claim is preposterous and impossible to validate and as such is not applicable to anything.

No matter what you do to it, wood will return to carbon dioxide from which it was created.
There is no way you can stop this without generation even more pollution and destruction of environment to entomb it somehow.

Wood is an essential element of the carbon cycle and you either use it for benefit or suffer for not utilizing it since wood will decay to Methane and eventually carbon dioxide no matter what you do.

Man cannot live without CO2, that's what makes food. There is no substitute for it.

Wood stoves do only what people make them do.

Africans are too lazy and stupid to replant what they destroy for their food, too stupid to create efficient wood burning stoves or ovens, too stupid to create proper ventilation.
In many regions they burn wood to keep mosquitos at bay and pollute their homes intentionally to prevent insect borne diseases.

Its not the worlds fault that these people are ignorant and ignored by their leaders.

Why is that anyone elses fault, why does the world suffer because of those claims and have to provide tribute to third parties who themselves live from extorted 'gifts'?

A single forest fire burns more wood than people using wood stoves will burn in a thousand years. That being said, burning would requires some education, and conscientiousness, one mistake can cost you everything, even your life.

be real everyone, they have to obsolete the old style wood stoves for one, to make you buy a new one. and two, to get you to give them the metal, as scrap. in my humble opinion, its a grab for the metal !!
