Japan to turn over nuclear stockpile to US
Why? Does this mean some kind of separation from the USA?



THE HAGUE - Japan will turn over all weapon-grade uranium and separated plutonium, which were provided by the United States and have been used at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency's Fast Critical Assembly in Tokai, Ibaraki Prefecture, to the United States to be downgraded and disposed of, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and US President Barack Obama said in a joint statement announced Monday.

No. If we were "separating" from them, what right would we have to demand this?

This is acknowledgment that Japan has had the capability to quickly make its own nukes, if need be. Handing this stuff over means that they are even further under the U.S. nuclear umbrella, because they are giving up their weapons-grade capable fissile stuff.

Nor do I believe that the USA will or can step in between China and Japan.

No it's just Japan's way of apologizing for fukushima knowing damn well they should have left the nukes alone after witnessing the atrocities first hand. But ni they followed self destructive human nature and now planet earth is paying the price. Who is very much alive but for some reason defenseless against humanity.
