Quoting: Hydra It seems NASAs press department don't either proof read or research: "But the newly found 2012 VP113 has an orbit that stays even beyond Sedna, making it the furthest known in the solar system." [link to www.nasa.gov] Ahmm: 2012 VP113: Aphelion = 446AU [link to ssd.jpl.nasa.gov] Sedna: Aphelion = 937AU [link to ssd.jpl.nasa.gov] I didn't know that 446 is greater than 937. . Ugh, so much fail, so little time. I'm assuming they mean the perihelion of 2012 VP113 is greater than the perihelion of Sedna, but what they actually wrote there is wrong. The orbit does not stay beyond Sedna... ugh. And as usual half of the media mischpoke puplished the ... ahm ... error. "Quality journalism" at it's best. . Just wait until BPearthwatch gets his hands on this mess. He'll be identifying 2012 VP113 in STEREO images in no time! lol ... and - I N C O M I N G ! LOL . :ase26122019: Annular Solar Eclipse - December 26, 2019 - Kannur, Kerala, India |
