I know. I saw the "wings" that is why I thought it was odd. also, that it is just not on single image from "flare" but remains in view through movie image.

I don't know how. Just an ac. I usually don't care, but would like to hear some real opinions on this. Magnetosphere was going crazy all day. Concerned that this is affecting it.

Yes there are a lot of things out there that we are not aware of or can even comprehend.

Do not mistake the unknown as DOOM. There is so much going on around us, you would be overwhelmed if I got into all the details.

The 23 Prophecies of the year 2014

Think about the Earth as a balloon being compressed at the bottom and expanding at the upper side. Not so sure, your version of doom may be different than mine. Anyway, I was hoping someone who regularly looks at these lasco films would have some input. I think if it is something, outerspace doom is probably the worst kind. Could affect entire planet. Finally, if "there is so much going on around us" minor details would be appreciated.

I have only been looking at them for about 6 months, but you can go to the archives on soho and check to see if it was there around this time last year, see if it's a new or recurring event.

Oh it's recurring alright, but the methodology you prescribe will not do the trick for a variety of reasons.


4share sucks so the link is dead now, but you can still see that this is a processing artifact which results from subtracting a previous planet-containing image from the current images by downloading the raw fits files ( [link to sharpp.nrl.navy.mil] ) and processing them yourself. They used an image from a previous day that contained a planet (CCD blooming creates the "wings") and are subtracting it from the current image in order to calibrate against the glare of the sun.

Same exact image. No "dark planet" but no real detail in the corona either. Too much glare. I calibrated this image by using another image to subtract from this image, removing the glare:

Now you can see all the detail, including a bit of a CME in the north part of the image, but because I used an image that did not contain a planet, there is no "dark planet with wings."

Well it does show up on 4/4/13 on Lasco C3 - It's there for quite a few days.

This reminds me of the object caught near the Sun as Ison rounded it in Perhelion.

Is it New Earth?

Well if you look at this chart everyday there have been countless eclipses...I cant count how many I have seen this past month.

So? It can happen randomly at any time. It simply depends on what calibration images are being used and whether they include a bright planet or not.

It's the SDO eclipse season. Happens every spring time and fall.
