Uyghur People: Rise Up with Russia! End China's genocide in Turkestan!
Uyghur People!

For six decades you have endured unspeakable personal and cultural torture. Your children have been forcibly removed from your home to be raised as "Chinese," your women have been forcibly sterilized, your men and boys have been kidnapped in the dead of night and sent to labor camps, working themselves to death just so rich Chinese officials in Beijing can drive luxury cars. Though you fought and died to defend China against Japanese imperialism, when you returned home the Chinese thanked you by denying you your own religion, language, and culture, and then stealing what little was left of your land and property.

Russia is shaking the world up. Once again, borders are being redrawn.

Seize the opportunity to restore the Turkestan/Uyghurstan border once and for all! Even allying with Russia would be better than remaining under Chinese rule, as 60 years has clearly shown.

Remember 1962! Uyghurstan belongs to Uyghurs, but for now it can't be done alone--being within Russia's borders is preferable to being within China's borders. Eventually, full and total independence must be achieved.

Is this the next US/Al Qaeda terror project? As long as it hurts Christians, Russia or China or any country standing in their way, the US happily supports terror, murder and all kinds of atrocities.

Even Chinese citizens know most, if not all, those "knife attack incidents" were false flags.

Ever notice how after every "Uyghur attack" a new Chinese business opens in Kashgar in a shop formerly owned by a Uyghur family? Sickening.

Uyghurs are not terrorists. Resisting an armed, foreign thief is not the same as going to a foreign country and killing the inhabitants.

The only one behaving as a terrorist is China.

The Uyghur issue really has nothing to do with Israel; it is not a religious issue.

It was a simply land-grab by China in the 1950s, wherein China took over a non-Chinese territory and declared that it must now be "Chinese."

The people do not speak Chinese, they are not ethnically Chinese, and they are not culturally Chinese. They are a Turkic people with a very different set of values than China's state-imposed communistic borg approach to humanity. They have endured a 60 year holocaust, silently--no museums, no films, no Hollywood spokespeople. They're alone.

They really would be better off under Russia, for now, though my hope would be for 100% independence of all foreign powers.

The reason, of course, was uranium and other precious resources.

As with Tibet, China continues to rape Turkestan of its minerals, poisoning the air and water in the process and literally using it as a nuclear garbage dump.

What Russia's doing to the Ukraine is crap, but someone might as well get something good out of it.

Now is the time to take action, while the world is distracted. I'm sure Putin would be only too happy to grab Turkestan back, and have some those nice uranium rocks for himself. Russia's treatment of its "minorities" isn't ideal, but it's a damn sight better than China's.

Alone, to the winds of the night
my darling left me, cruelly.
They say the golden sky does rain
over Tarim where my love lies
But weeping shall I be, forever,
and this burden in my chest grieves me

O listener of the cry under the moon
say "Peace!" when you pass over Taklaman
There my love went and will not soon return
nor come back down the road of silk over Cherchen
Uyghur is my name and thus shall I be
Oh how I wish my lost love could hear me

Ages over ages, dust upon dust
my tears will flow until Kumtagh is green
Roaming east and west, nevertheless
until this heart finds its lost mate
Play the laments, O hitter of the cords
and to my love say goodbye, never to be seen again

I am mixed Native American, too--Lenne Lenape, Shawnee, and Ramapo Mountain Lenape, and of course all manner of people in between including (brace yourself) Irish.

In an increasingly multicultural world, it becomes not an issue of ethnicity, but simple justice, and human rights.

If we were to look at the Uyghur situation simply from a criminal law perspective, we would see that for 60 years, Chinese occupiers have been stealing and committing other crimes against the Uyghur, with impunity. And yes, Uyghurs commit crimes, too, but I'm talking about the systematic, state-sponsored abuse of a people using their ethnicity as the reason for 1) targeting them and 2) getting away with it.

If Putin is really going to expand his borders, then why not take back some of the other disputed territories as well--including so-called Xinjiang, or parts of it? China never had any moral claim to the land--nor does Russia--but in a world of evils, why not pick the lesser of the two?

There's simply no reason Turkestan can't be placed under Russian rule, just as is happening to the Ukraine. Strategically, Turkestan would be vital for Russia and provide staggering natural mineral resources. In some ways, it would be more useful than the Ukraine.

Thank you, goodmockingbird.

I know the world isn't a fair place, but I think it's time to at least strive for fairness. The Uyghurs' plight has gone unnoticed long enough.

They are an extremely moderate Muslim community, but run the risk of the young people becoming radicalized out of frustration. Uyghurs are NOT yet radicalized. Like many Central Asian peoples, their brand of Islam is very low-key; you might think of it as the Quakers of Islam. People think Islam has only one face, and that's not true.

Uyghurs just want to be left alone. They don't hurt anyone around them, they are jihadis, they don't want to bring down America. They are farmers and artists and students and just want to have the freedom to do their thing without Chinese government oppression. But Beijing, like all governments, is greedy and will take whatever it can get away with taking.

Why shouldn't Russia consider taking back Turkestan? Who would stop them?

Sorry, they *aren't* jihadis.

There are more white kids from American and Canadian kids turning to jihad than any Uyghur kids.

China uses the "terrorist" label to justify taking whatever it wants from these people. And we continue to merrily trade with China as if everything's hunky-dory.

So I'll cut the rant short there, but if you want to know about false-flags against the Uyghur people, hang out on a few Chinese forums for a while and you'll see that even Chinese citizens themselves (the young students, especially) recognize the atrocities their government is committing against the occupied Uyghur people.

As you have pointed out, the Uighur are NOT "radical Muslims" -- their traditional culture encompasses much Mongolian shamanism! -- but they are variously painted by the media as dangerous radicals, or in a few tragic cases, they have indeed fought back.

In lifestyle, they are little different from the traditional Tibetan nomads. And there is plenty of worldwide support for Tibetan independence and cultural preservation.

The Chinese government dudes here who are paid to deal with such things are supposed to keep a VERY light hand on GLP (as opposed to other forums). Imo, that's because GLPers have strong BS detectors, and the agents don't like to be called out.

But...a pinned thread with "Uyghur" and "genocide," I guarantee you, has already generated phone calls to bosses. Without question.

In my town, every single Tibetan family has a file kept on them at the regional China Embassy. Every one. I know, because when my friend tried to go see his dad in Tibet, he was shown these files as a threat (so he wouldn't do anything crazy like wave a Tibetan flag once inside Tibet).

He never ended up getting to go, because he kept referring to it as "Tibet" and the woman interviewing him screamed that he had to call it "China." He kept saying "Tibet," and she screamed at him so loud that they sent security into her office, lol. But he was so stubborn, never saying "China," that he gave up on the trip.

The Uyghur have a stunning poetry tradition.

Chinese writer Jeffrey Yang says:

"What attracts me to Uyghur poetry is what attracts me to French poetry or to Indian poetry or to poetry in general—its long tradition that builds and transforms from generation to generation; its capacity to serve as intersection of everything; the knowledge it passes down, its roots that branch underground; its resistance to easy answers and its preening of language; its mysterious music. The enthnopoetics movement of the ’60s and ’70s in the U.S. really opened our ears to the poetry of all tribes, bringing an awareness that this ancient art existed in all cultures since the beginning of language and continues to subsist somehow—“hope, only source of poetry,” Nathaniel Tarn writes in a poem. What initially attracted me to Uyghur poetry in particular was learning about its history and culture through its poetry—and in the modern era to the present, its resilience in the face of so much destruction and political oppression."

You never hear such things from Beijing--only nasty, dark, prejudiced commentary. Anything to justify swiping yet another choice building or office or market stall in Kashgar (or what's left of old Kashgar).

Yes!

Two mongrel Shawnee pro-Quaker GLPers, lol. Truth is stranger than fiction.

The Uyghur love music and dance--they have a saying, "When a Uyghur child can walk, he can dance; when a Uyghur child can speak, she can sing." They see their Chinese neighbors as rather uninspired and introverted. Not completely unlike the Irish vs. English.

By the way, compared to an atheist, a Muslim person is far more likely to be converted to Christianity eventually.

So if you truly care about a Christian world, you have to decide which is more important to you--your prejudice, or your faith.

The true terrorists are the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party.

At this very moment, they are ethnically cleansing Uyghurs from Chinese cities--putting them on trains just like the Jewish people in the 1940s. I kid you not.

The CCP is the world's #1 terrorist.
