Re: The Beard and it's Purpose for Men
The Bible tells us that a man should have a full, untrimmed beard, while trimming the hair on the head to an acceptable length. Much of this centers on the verse in Lev. 19:27 which should be translated:

'You must not shave or cut the corners of the hairs of your head and you are not to trim (mar or clip off) the edge (corners) of your beard.'

Ezek. 44:20: 'And their heads they must not shave and long hair they must not grow. They must trim their heads.'

The beard is considered a symbol of manhood, and, in some places, of freedom - slaves being compelled to shave their beards in token of servitude.

The beard was a mark of vitality and of manly beauty (Ps. 133:2; cf. 2 Sa. 19:24); to shave or cover it was a sign of grief or mourning (Is. 15:2; Je. 48:37, etc.; cf. Lv. 19:27; 21:5, enacted probably against idolatrous practices), or of leprosy (Lv. 14:9). To mutilate another's beard was to dishonor him (2 Sa. 10:4; Is. 50:6).

Do you truly believe God Himself cares how you trim your hair? Might it not be the egos of TPTB at the time that try to get you to conform to their beliefs? hf

Re: The Beard and it's Purpose for Men
FOUR years ago, I grew the first full beard of my adult life on a whim. I was 41, and it was neither a fashion statement nor a midlife crisis, but it came at a fortuitous time: the style world just happened to be entering the Postmillennial He-Man Beard Epoch.

Older friends looked at me as if I were trying too hard — the same as if I showed up at a high school reunion in leather pants. Friends my age said diplomatically, “I don’t think I could pull off a beard.” Translation: “Neither can you.”

For them, a beard on a grown man seemed like an indicator that he had, to some degree, lost his senses.

Those rogue connotations followed me into the workplace. The modern corporate environment, after all, is fundamentally militaristic in structure. And unless you’re talking Stonewall Jackson, there is nothing military about a beard. To many bosses, a beard is a dangerous sign, like a neck tattoo or a pierced nose, that says, “I am a free spirit, not a team player.”

Truth to this unfortunately. I've had a goatee since the late 90's and normally now in the winter I grow it to a full beard, never gets long, drives me nuts with itching. I've never had a lady tell me she didn't like my beard, some chicks just dig them.

This is where total confusion take place.
The sufi of islam grow hair and beard
The Jewish priests do the same
The indians do the same
Yet the buddhist do the opposite and shave their heads and face.

Yet all these claim they are abiding by univrsal law

Some folks have written recently to ask,
Hey, Jundo! What’s with all the hair & the beard? I thought Zen monks are supposed to shave?
Well, many Zen teachers of old had hair and/or beards and even recent Ch’an monks.
Shakyamuni Buddha, had a gorgeous head of hair …Even in Southeast Asian traditions, where things are rather strict

Let it fly in the breeze and get caught in the trees. Give a home to the fleas in my hair A home for fleas, a hive for bees A nest for birds, there ain’t no words For the beauty, the splendor, the wonder of my Hair! (hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair)Flow it, Show it;Long as God can grow it, My Hair!

Because it all comes down to a war between two sets of 'gods', the dragon (or astrological gods) vs. Jahweh/YHVH.

The one God demands long hair and beard, the other gods want clean shaven head and beard. Possibly to remove the spiritual power the One God granted men when they do have their beard and hair long.

So of course when YHVH rules a people you see their religious followers with flowing hair and beards, but when the astrological gods rule a people you will see them going through tedious practices to shave their hair with elementary technology. You will also see them tattoo up, another thing banned by YHVH.

Re: The Beard and it's Purpose for Men
According to art historian Paul Zanker, the bearded type has long hair from the start, and a relatively long beard (contrasting with the short "classical" beard and hair always given to St Peter, and most other apostles); this depiction is specifically associated with "Charismatic" philosophers like Euphrates the Stoic, Dio of Prusa and Apollonius of Tyana, some of whom were claimed to perform miracles.[33] After the very earliest examples of c. 300, this depiction is mostly used for hieratic images of Jesus, and scenes from his life are more likely to use a beardless, youthful type.

My husband sports a full beard during the cooler months, trims and shaves it down to a goatee style during the warmer months.

I like it. It separates the men from the boys. ;)

Go find the few specific verses that call for not cutting of the hair, quote those verses, explain who those instructions were to, and explain how those specific verses apply specifically to you.

Please.

I tried beard and long hair, separately and together. Neither seemed to make much difference in how well or badly I attracted women. Nothing really changed anything, so it really doesn't matter.

With money - I could get money either way.

In society, it really doesn't matter. You can always get paid, but not laid.

Bearded men are dominate over the sissy metro men you have all become. Look at any picture of a man from before the modern age and you will see some sort of beard.

That's why your co-workers and other people look at you strange, they are intimidated by you with a beard.

Get your beard on

Back in February, I was very blessed to have the Huffington Post run my piece, “Get Your Beard On: A Call to Untrimmed Spirituality in a Clean-Shaven World.” It’s a playful allegory, an invitation to believe...better.

“From bearded indie rockers to hipster barkeeps, facial hair is in. And with it come rumors of a holy renaissance. Men and women everywhere are rediscovering the hairy lore of church history, the long curly whiskers of the saints, the bearded patriarchs of the Bible, and how our own spiritual lives can be gnarly and unclipped.

What is more spiritual than facial hair? Socrates and Plato sported the philosophers beard, King David was the first of the bearded poets, and who can forget the gross and swarthy beard of Jesus of Nazareth? Jesus immortalized the beard. To this day, no matter how many centuries have passed since his ascension, growing a thick beard is a pastime for holy men (and maybe even a few women)...“
