what are you on about? Mauritius was still ruled by Britain up until 1968. Anything that belonged to Mauritius, belonged to Britain. That 3 million was likely for mauritian politicians to accept diego garcian refugees.

my mother's family's from mauritius. they've always said how badly the d-garcians have been treated. they remember the day the ships came to port louis to literally dump the poople off. one of my relatives was filming as they were coming off the boats and some americans forcefully asked him for the tape in the camera. So they obviously wanted to hide whatever was going on. They got no money, no comepensation and had no homes to go to, apart from a few shanty towns around Mauritius. that money Britain 'spent' didnt go anywhere near to helping those people. to this day, they still haven't settled in mauritius and just want to go home.
