Woke up this morning and looked out my window - Would easily say that I can't see past 5 metres!! Yikes!!

Defra has a 10-point scale for measuring air quality - with 1 meaning there is a "low" risk of air pollution and 10 warning of "very high" levels.

Levels hit the maximum of 10 in north-west Norfolk on Tuesday.

Readings for Wednesday are expected to reach 8 or 9 in much of southern England, East Anglia and the Midlands, and possibly 10 along England's southern coast.

Now I have never experienced anything like this in my 46 years here. Not buying the Sahara Dust story as we've had that many times before.

My eyes have been itching like mad the past couple of days and put it down to pollen - now I'm not so sure.

Funny you say that!! Mine have been exactly the same-Just assumed it was pollen also, as the nicer weather had started to show!

Also, I cannot understand the Defra level. If it has a 10-point scale and we are on 10, then surely this would mean 10 being the most dangerous? In other words, affecting peoples lives massively, at the moment they are saying that those with lung and heart problems shouldn't do 'strenuous' exercise outside - But surely breathing air of that toxicity would be lethal to most??

All I do know is that I'm not buying the Sahara story.

The winds are blowing in from the South East - the Sahara is due South/South-West of the UK.

SAme thing happened in Yorkshire 2 weeks a go no mention on the news.

I have been sat here thinking 'Why is nobody commenting or worrying about this?'

I have kept my youngest off nursery today because he has asthma and normally he is running around like crazy out in the play area - Put two and two together and decided to keep him at home, just incase!!

I think that's wise until the end of the week as they are saying it could last the next few days.

Note the date. This was three days ago that people were experiencing dust on their cars and windows.

As they are expecting this pollution to be around for a few more days yet, this means the winds must be coming in from the Sahara for 6 consecutive days - 31st through to 5th April.

Is that happening?

More likely this is pollution from Eastern Europe in my opinion.

I can actually feel the air is changed... my daughter my hubbie and myself have all had congestion and sore throats and itchy eyes... this is horrid... going to stay inside today.. keep safe and keep an eye out to those in the uk on the elderly..
