There was a tornado touchdown this morning in St. Louis!! That was just the start of things. Weather is going to get very nasty in many places later today.

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – It’s still raining in spots south and east of St. Louis and that means more storms are coming Thursday afternoon. Severe weather as well as a tornado swept across parts of the area early Thursday morning before sunrise.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has declared a state of emergency in response to the storm.

Re: POSS. SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK Today FOR PARTS OF MO, AR, OK, TX, TN, MS, KY, IL, IN, OH. MULTIPLE REPORTS OF TORNADOES, DAMAGE
No injuries resulted from the EF1 twister that hit University City just west of St. Louis shortly before 5:30 a.m., damaging about 100 homes in winds that reached up to 110 mph, National Weather Service meteorologist Jayson Gosselin said. That system also carried heavy rain — up to 5 inches in parts of Missouri, prompting flash flooding that damaged dozens of homes and forced at least two water rescues.

But forecasters said more was in store, saying unsettled weather could spawn other tornadoes and thunderstorms later Thursday, notably in southern Missouri, Arkansas, northern Louisiana and western portions of Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi.

Go to your nearest neighbor that has a basement or a storm cellar. Go now before the weather gets bad, and ask them if you can hunker down with them until the storm passes.

Will be interesting to see if the DFW area gets a surprise this afternoon. FWD mentioned in their update that the dryline slowed down or may stall west of here a county or two. They increased our pops to 40% now instead of the 20% this morning.

Maryland has had tornadoes

I saw one form near my apartment

Was crazy

But it quickly went away

Red Cross Tornado App!!

Get your family and home ready for a tornado with the official Tornado App from the American Red Cross. The tornado warning app puts everything you need to know to prepare for a tornado – and all that comes with it – in the palm of your hand.
