Maryland has had tornadoes

I saw one form near my apartment

Was crazy

But it quickly went away

I can't imagine seeing a Midwest one
 Quoting: Astral Goat

Last year in (I believe) November, I was about an hour's drive away from am EF3 that tore into a town. The sirens were actually going off here in town as the winds were getting intense when the county northwest of me was under a warning. I'd never heard tornado sirens in person. It's quite eerie..
 Quoting: Too Dark Park

March 2012 two EF3's destroyed two towns both 15 miles from me...

One of the towns had been hit just a few days earlier my a smaller tornado...

We watched both storm systems roll by...

But the last of the 2 tornados....

Was half a mile away and was headed strait for us....

I was in the yard watching it come towards us...

Didnt have anywhere to go... Might as well die watching hell roll in smoking a cigarette standing next to my father.

I heard an lil voice say

"Dont be afraid... Fear not this storm... It will not hurt you"

I was actually terrified until that...

Argue schizo or whatever... God's reassurance was spoken to me... Im not saying God himself spoke to me... But divine assurance was heard...

As soon as i faced that awful storm and readied for what would happen... And didnt fear...

It changed course about a quarter mile from me... It was the most terrifying thing i have ever seen... So much lighting that it looked like a rolling cloud of fire... I never feared storms until that night... Of all the storms i seen... None ever spooked me until that one.

When it was all said and done death and destruction was over 90 miles from that single tornado.

It was only one of many that hit that day/night.

Every now and then we might get a lil tornado in these mountains...

But EF3's that go 90 miles on the ground...

Unheard of...

And i think it was more than an EF3... The destruction was too great and too far spread...

We got a storm shelter before the month was over.

Tornados are scary...

Checking in from NW Arkansas. The weather went from balmy to cool. The sun is trying to come out. If it heats up here that usually spells danger. It's much too cool this very moment though.

A large part of the US is going to be hit with severe weather within the next 24 hours. This is a very good time to do a little prep work.

Charge you cell phones, laptops, ham radios, etc.

Secure items outside so the wind doesn't pick stuff up and throw it through your windows. (Or your neighbors windows)

Check your flashlight batteries.

Keep your shoes next to your bed tonight in case you have to run for cover.

Stay safe everyone
