Court Reporter types over and over ""I hate my job"" instead of transcribing procedings
[link to nypost.com]

I hate my job...... I hate my job .....

""An alcoholic Manhattan court stenographer went rogue, channeling his inner “Shining” during a high-profile criminal trial and repeatedly typing, “I hate my job, I hate my job” instead of the trial dialogue, sources told The Post.

The bizarre antics by Daniel Kochanski, who has since been fired, wreaked havoc on some 30 Manhattan court cases, sources said, and now officials are scrambling to repair
the damage
.....
The troubled stenographer’s dad said his son “became an alcoholic” about five years ago, costing him his marriage and job.

He said his son was in rehab when they last spoke about three years ago.

Ex-wife Heather Kochanski said, “The pressure of that job pushed him over the edge, leading him to lose everything.”""

So it can turn out like this:

"How do you plead?"

"in a cent."

I would have thought they did, we do here as well as take notes.

And yes, most court reporters really don't like their jobs, the stuff you hear and see can be hard to take at times...

Well, we have to work with workaholic Vipers who cheat us out of copy sales, give us only five-minute breaks and basically witness the scum of humanity, along with cops I suppose too. Yeah, it is stressful. But I know a lot of reporters who love their jobs. I guess they like being little robots and wrecking their bodies by consistently doing repetitive robotic hand movements.

Re: Court Reporter types over and over ""I hate my job"" instead of transcribing procedings
Regarding the task of court reporting, I think
it would be nearly impossible to listen and
record and never have your mind wander even
for a moment.
And as said above, this stuff
is sometimes hard to take or horrific.
Surely sometimes ones mind starts to think WTF?
And it doesn't help if the reporter is wishing
for a drink.
