Yellowstone Volcano Conspiracy Theories Claim USGS Is Hiding Earthquake, Fissures Data Over Supervolcano Fears

Yellowstone volcano conspiracy theories are claiming that the USGS is hiding the earthquake data that points to fissures opening up around Yellowstone national park. Further, they claim authorities are secretly evacuating towns in the area because of fears over a Yellowstone supervolcano forming as the caldera gets ready to pop.

Most likely we will see ore reports such as this as tie goes on. At least this one attempts to show where errors in thinking may have originated.

As far as secret evacuations go, in this day and age I highly doubt that ANY agency could pull this off. There would bound to be at least ONE disgruntled teenager tweeting:

"Damn. I just made the cheerleading squad, and now we're being evacuated. Oops! Not suppose to tell #FUyellowstone

Everyday I look at the still cams to see if there's any smoke rising in their view points. I know the park is big, and I will admit that I also wonder if there might be places where magma has breached the surface, but I know I can only go with what's in my ability to know...which isn't all that much.
 Quoting: Esoteric Morgan

I totally agree with you. And I posted this link as the latest article I could find. There aren't that many updates on this subject right now.

But what do you say to this time-lapse video I just made from the cam?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56674568

I have looked at that video a number of times...and I do not see what you are referring to. hmm.

What I did do is compare the opening shots to pictures I took a number of days ago.

I do see two trees which appear to be tilted, yet, they look exactly the same in the older shot...although the ground definitely has that white coating on it now, which was not evident then.

This is the same 'white' stuff I now see on the hill. If you caught a post I made some days ago, I commented that I saw a mass of thick whitish stuff spew out from the mound to the NE of Old Faithful.

I think that around those steamy days a week or so ago, excessive water may have eroded into it excessive volumes of minerals, or simply picked them up, which have been coming out with the steam now and then ever since, falling where they may from the steam they are traveling on.

I also suspect that this is the cause of the fine particles we have seen at least twice on most of the camera lens covers.

I did do a search, trying to determine what it might be, I did see that magnesium, barium. silica are among the minerals which are deposited during geyser emissions...and, I further tried to find out if these travel on magma -and might be considered a lava precursor, or lava-like or even a FORM OF MAGMA, which could then be an indication that things are ramping up.

Well, so far, I have NOT found ANY paper which allows that lava can have such thin viscosity as to be considered lava at all, even if mixed into and emitted along with volumes of steam and water.

Ha! My mind tells me to keep looking, because I HAVE read this about rhyolite lava:

"Rhyolite is a felsic extrusive rock. Due to the high silica content, rhyolite lava is very viscous. It flows slowly, like tooth paste squeezed out of a tube, and tends to pile up and form lava domes. If rhyolite magma is gas rich it can erupt explosively, forming a frothy solidified magma called pumice (a very lightweight, light-coloured, vesicular form of rhyolite) along with ash deposits, and / or ignimbrite. In certain situations extremely porous rhyolite lava flows may develop. The extreme porosity of such flows allows degassing and subsequent collapse of the flow, forming obsidian (dark coloured volcanic glass)." [link to flexiblelearning.auckland.ac.nz]

I have also read this:

Viscosity of Magmas

Viscosity is the resistance to flow (opposite of fluidity).

Viscosity depends on primarily on the composition of the magma, and temperature.

Higher SiO2 (silica) content magmas have higher viscosity than lower SiO2 content magmas (viscosity increases with increasing SiO2 concentration in the magma).

Lower temperature magmas have higher viscosity than higher temperature magmas (viscosity decreases with increasing temperature of the magma). [Meaning: 'is thinner'.]

Thus, basaltic magmas tend to be fairly fluid (low viscosity), but their viscosity is still 10,000 to 100,0000 times more viscous than water.

Rhyolitic magmas tend to have even higher viscosity, ranging between 1 million and 100 million times more viscous than water.

(Note that solids, even though they appear solid have a viscosity, but it's very high, measured as trillions times the viscosity of water). Viscosity is an important property in determining the eruptive behavior of magmas...

...In general more siliceous magmas form by low degrees of partial melting. As the degree of partial melting increases, less siliceous compositions can be generated. So, melting a mafic source thus yields a felsic or intermediate magma. Melting of ultramafic (peridotite source) yields a basaltic magma.

Magmatic Differentiation

But, processes that operate during transportation toward the surface or during storage in the crust can alter the chemical composition of the magma. These processes are referred to as magmatic differentiation and include assimilation, mixing, and fractional crystallization...

...Assimilation - As magma passes through cooler rock on its way to the surface it may partially melt the surrounding rock and incorporate this melt into the magma. Because small amounts of partial melting result in siliceous liquid compositions, addition of this melt to the magma will make it more siliceous...

...If the liquid part of the magma has a low viscosity, then the gas can expand relatively easily. When the magma reaches the Earth's surface, the gas bubble will simply burst, the gas will easily expand to atmospheric pressure, and a non-explosive eruption will occur, usually as a lava flow (Lava is the name we give to a magma when it on the surface of the Earth)..." [link to www.tulane.edu]

My query is: what if we are talking SMALL VOLUMES at the outset?

What if we are seeing exposures of extremely low viscosity liquids -a.k.a. a pre-lava- which are being finally carried upwards to the surface after settling on the surface of rock not yet melted for 70, 000 to 630,000 years?

Think of it this way: Yellowstone is a cacophony of all sorts of deposits, some which are slowly creating fumeroles and domes and mounds...which are ALL considered to be part of the process of HOW VOLCANOES FORM.

Put another way: we know that every day, geysers and pools at Yellowstone continue the process of volcanism, as seen in the deposits they issue forth.

WHY NOT A 'PRE-LAVA' lava stage?

The stuff that has been sitting underground all these millennium is being stirred up, mixing in with passing waters, has to come out at some point.

The very fact that Yellowstone has been SO QUIET as a Supervolcano does NOT discount the fact that volcanic processes are occurring every day within the park.

(Whew! I need to breathe a second or two.)

Therefore, I will continue my quest to find out if any professional through the ages has also considered that there might be a noticeable pre-eruptive effusive-eruptive stage to be seen in effusions at volcanic sites.

Why can't lava be sooooo very less vicious in it's early stages, as its main volume of magma creeps to the surface?

Is THAT part of what we are seeing in the park, as seen in powder on lenses, and now 'covering' a good deal of the landscape -as light as it might be, and what's trailing down the mound ever so little near LION, and what spewed forth from that dome some days ago, as I've already noted?

There must come a point where we think carefully about subtle things right before our very eyes.

I was trying to figure them out. They are just about 30 1/2 minutes apart.

Someone suggested yesterday (?) that is could be solar recharge signals...but the local time starts too early, at 5:04 a.m.

Is it possible it is a 'dying battery' signal instead...which ends just about when the Sun is high enough to start recharging?

Each signal is the sae, so it looks as if the same thing is causing these pulses.
 Quoting: Esoteric Morgan

Excellent deduction there - I would imagine that they put some sort of artificial "signal" in to tell them there's aproblem, such as low battery voltage. Makes a lot of sense.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24889765

Wow. That is an excellent deduction!

But (ugh, sorry to do this...) if it was low battery, wouldn't we see that every morning?
And would all of them ping 'low battery' at the exact same time?

Probably man made tho. Off to google if there are any active mining operations near by.....
 Quoting: RefreshPage

Once again we are relegated to grasping at straws.

I have always said that these signals occurring at 'the same time' indicate something other than natural occurrence...especially when in such perfect sequence.

Not natural geomagnetics et al from Space.
Not natural magma movements all across the board.
Not from the Earth fracturing or moving or moaning or groaning.

Radio signal. Electromagnetic pulse. SOMETHING generated that causes an electrical pulse to be picked up.

Perhaps from a passing satellite?

What, then? That's the mystery.

On another note, I am, perhaps, more interested in finding out what causes the pulses to be recorded at differing amplitudes.

This might help us discover where things are more and less intense under ground...such as depth of magma, direction, consistency and the like.

Remember that we are only seeing a raw trace which lasts about 20 seconds.

Spreading them out and really investigating the subtle differences in nanoseconds will allow for other things to be visualized. And THIS is what we cannot possibly be seeing as armchair observers, looking solely at a picture of a trace.

cool2

Hopefully this is exactly what they are doing, by generating these pulses at times when they have the time, or reason to, dig a little deeper.

IDK.

I've been searching to try and understand more about random noise on seismos and amplitude and hertz.
I came across this link, starting on page 11, they discuss the 'peculiarities of signal appearance in seismic records' and discuss amplitude and hertz.
It continues on to discuss ambient noise and short-period noise.
[link to www.earth.northwestern.edu]

(Heavy reading, must read 14 more times for better comprehension)

Still don't know what those blip/spike/pings are, but I get the feeling that if I understood what is being said in this link, I would know. If that makes any sense....

The ONLY place I saw that same wave discussed was in reports relating to electromagnetic pulses.

It would be nice to see it in another light!

I am getting the feeling that we have a different cam operator.

Whoever is at the controls has a different way of looking at things.

It kind of takes away from what I expect to see!

And, the camera is VERY jumpy today. I have hardly seen a moment when it's not been either wavering or bouncing about.

From a two-way radio perspective, (I'm a radio engineer), I think we can rule out electromagnetic interference, simply because digital stuff doesn't behave the same as analogue, (it tends to drop out or corrupt, as opposed to a nice spike), and for analogue interference the levels would have to be incredibly high. Electrical interference certainly, such as lightning or static discharges on or near the analogue cable between the sensor and it's above ground digital converter gubbins, but then I would expect it to be relatively random. I think we are looking at physical vibration of the ground, such as a pile driver type thing, but the pulses are way to far apart, or an "audio" signal transmitted in the ground. It does look man-made to me, and I would tend toward some sort of test or calibration check, but it could be something to do with magma or natural stuff, I dunno...

Nice work, E.M. I can totally follow your logic on how an imminent lava breach in the earth may be indicated by an increasing amount / change of minerals being erupted at the geysers. The research you posted gives solid insight into how Yellowstone's geyser emissions could change in the manner you and others have witnessed already.

Quick PSA: yesterday's timelapses are available now. I had a small bug in my script which made the uploads fail but it's fixed and they should be back on schedule again.

I've been learning all I can about the world of geo-engineering for answers and there is very little info on the occurrence of weather modification in active volcanic regions.

All I can find about the link between volcanoes and chemtrails is that there was evidence of a massive chemtrailing operation before, during, and after the 2010 eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull, a volcano in Iceland.

Here's what I found:

"Icelandic Volcano 15.04.10 no chemtrails today " - [link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

I didn't want to say anything because - like most of what I'm seeing at Yellowstone - I could hardly believe my own eyes. Until today, I couldn't even imagine NASA would openly acknowledge these things...

Also, I didn't want to muddy this thread with idiotic shillery and BS flags, which is inevitable.

And yes, I think I know what this means. That's why I'm still here, sharing as many visual warning signs that I can, as best I can. Most people unfortunately need more subtle things than UFOs to convince them something wicked this way comes.

Now, back to our regular programming...

THIS IS SOOOO VERY FREAKY!

So, ever since you posted the above link, I have been 'playing' with the opening frames of this one, from yesterday:

I started to look closely after noticing that all of a sudden the cam cover was covered in debris...although I could not figure WHERE it was coming from. It did not appear to be old Faithful, so I started to look frame by frame.

Low and behold, I eventually see that the debris must be from one of the geysers to the west.

But that is not what I am so excited about in writing this...

If you go FRAME by FRAME as best you can, meaning, put your cursor over the play/stop button so you can start-then-stop the video, you get to see the Geysers in a whole new light!

Seen in slow motion, they are like rapid fire missles, actually SHOOTING out gasses as if they are bombs!

There is a frame at 26 seconds which looks like the west geyser is firing back at Old Faithful!

Seen in the perspective of fractions of seconds, the bursts out of Old Faithful are NOT smooth in its eruption.

One shot fired in one of the frames showing 42 seconds actually looks like some sort of particle beam weapon, or sonic blast weapon, having a broad ring at the top of the angled column of steam, which looks as if it has just shot gasses through it! You can even see the glow of heat in the gas coming out of the ring!

Old Faithful

Anyhoo...seeing Old Faithful frame by frame lets you see the explosive gasses being emitted, and the mid-air glow that comes off the gasses.

This is so interesting.

I think my new smilie, which I have saved on my computer as Old Faithful Gas Blaster, may not show the glow as well as in the original video.

What a way to spend a nice, warm Sunday afternoon: having fun with a video!

On another note: now we can see that it's NOT ALL STEAM!

So I have had the Yellowstone feeds up for the seismometers. The [link to www.isthisthingon.org] page. It seems like as of 9 am (MST)a large percentage of the various sites started to show something. As to what it is I have no clue, but the lines are no longer straight and are doing little waves that make the graphs look darker.

Absolutely agree... It's become more gaseous and 'explosive' in appearance rather than steamy and wet.

I noticed this type of effect earlier when OF was erupting - the ejections now look sharp and fast. Also somewhat spurty like when you run water from a tap that's filled with air from a broken water pipe down the road.

Shouldn't bear saying but... NOT GOOD!

Uh... Do these animals (deer?) usually just sorta sit down and rest like this at Mammoth? [link to www.nps.gov]

They've been there a while and they don't look very well, tbh.

They are elk ohyeah

They do that all the time. When we were there last fall there were herds just hanging out. It's pretty cool to see the wildlife.

Live cam has been offline for over 30 minutes.

Upper Geyser webcam is also stuck at 04:45PM, though all the other fixed cams are still rolling mostly in real time (latest timestamp: 05:17PM).

Unless it's just me?

Wow!

I wonder why?

West Boundary is current [link to www.isthisthingon.org]

It does not look bad.

I will sniff around to see what I can find.

The Lake is a bit spikey, but not overly alarming: [link to www.isthisthingon.org]

And the trace at Old Faithful is not alarming either.

First time I've seen such activity at Array-Grant Village seismometer:

[link to www.isthisthingon.org]

Seems like what is happening at Borehole Grant B944 nearby has started to hit Array-Grant, which is not located as close to the lake as B944.

Array-Grant is located at the western tip of the lake, shown on this map: [link to volcanoes.usgs.gov]

I used to watch Mt. Redoubt in Alaska blow smoke rings...truth...before it erupted and sometimes it would puff just like a locomotive..i have noticed the same puffing going on at Old Faithful geyser lately..like a regular big puff of steam getting emitted just like an old locomotive. Wonder if it will start blowing smoke rings too? Whatever the reason ...i haven't noticed it till now and i have been watching the live camera there as long as it has been up..not a good sign.

Only the live cam, the the Upper Basin Geyser still (stuck at 4:45) is not working.

All the others are fine, the the still Old Faithful is tranquil:

[link to www.nps.gov]

Without the Live Cam I feel something like a fish out of water :(

Every so often I imagine what life would be like without instant access to the things we find important.

I try to train myself to be satisfied nonetheless, but quite frankly, it doesn't 'feel' right when you're cloistered in your own world, without benefit of at least an open window on the world at large.

Cam down. Go to stills of Old Faithful...or, watch a movie, prepare a meal, call my mom to chat?
