what you see now on cam is not spectacular... what we saw , was.

If you look carefully, you can see the ghosts of indians and animals fleeing in the mist...

Some of the images that the dailymail link has that claims it is about to die and never erupt again. Looks like it is from a alien movie where the frog spawn is about to form gizmos.

There was. A LOT of activity today...I have been watching for a few years now and have never witnessed anything on the cam like I did earlier today.

Buffalo all week long...but not today.

No, it's not VERY normal at all. There is a reason someone is using a joystick for this normally steady aimed camera. There is also a reason they are panning the entire valley to give an idea of exactly how much is venting and likely recording it all. I was at Yellowstone late fall last year, there was nowhere near as much venting as this. And again, that someone is manning the camera is quite telling.

There was snow every where, earlier. You are right. Wish they'd pan around more.

Small fact... the last large EQ to hit YS in '59, hit at almost midnight.

Just something that popped in my mind in honor of Yellowstone.

Seriously though, is anyone who lives near Yellowstone having any pets or livestock that are freaking out? When that starts happening, I will worry.

I have watched this cam going on over 2 weeks,hell of a lot more snow on the ground then,maybe that's why the cam operator was zoomin in on the ground so much.

Yes, most of the snow that was there earlier today is gone.

Well, yes it is, if its normal for three geysers to go off around the same time as Old Faithful. Is it? Do you know? I have to say the first geothermal event was spectacular - you couldn't see the fumerole because of the trees but the gusher was higher than the trees. It was amazing. I don't think Old Faithful does that and I though Old Faithful was the biggest one.

In fact, Old Faithful (if that is the one directly in front of the camera) was the smallest gusher of them all.
