The only possibility for it being snow is that it was blown off the mountain. I've experienced it before where there is no actual snow, but rather wind carried snow off the peaks. I forget the technical name for it... But IMHO, it is either wind blown snow or ash...those are the only two choices Actually, it could be geothermal water from the geysers - thats what I thought it was when it was hitting the camera |

Yes there is a camera operator, which makes this even more scary. and when this big geyser event took place after cam shake , the camera was zooming in and out on it... like it was investigating it... it focust and followed the whole event...the cam turns around in 360 sometimes... MELT What does it melt into?? WATER Where does the water go?? UNDERGROUND What does Yellowstone have?? HYDROTHERMAL FEATURES CONCLUSION: Yellowstone has Hydrothermal features which means water underground boils because of the heat source underneath...When it reaches a certain pressure (like a kettle), it blows out steam... Now, you see the ground covered in Snow, which is slowly melting. Extra water from the melting snow is building up on top of the normal amount of water there usually is. This means there is more water in the system...The more water in the system, the more there is to boil...The more there is to boil, the more steam it will generate.... What you are seeing on that CAM is a complete normal process that Yellowstone does...It just seems more intense because of the fact there is more water entering the ground from the snow.... Chill out, relax and enjoy the wonderful features that Yellowstone gives us.... |
