The camera has panned before. It has never stayed fixed on Old Faithful all day and since Old Faithful won't go off again for another 90 minutes they are going to change the view to another geyser so you have something else to watch while the pressure builds in Old Faithful. Unlike Old Faithful, most geysers in the park go off randomly. Some of them go days/weeks/months or years before they go off again. Therefore the geyser you are seeing erupt currently may not have erupted for a while and it is the only action to see until Old Faithful erupts again. I am afraid you may be wrong on that point sir, yesterday, at one point, and today, they were ALL going off at once!! They have been doing this for days now. Also, with regard to the seismo's, we were checking the events on the L.A. seismo and sure enough, the geysers were doing there thing EVERY time. The Universe does Balance and Equilibrium - neither excess nor deficit. Perhaps humanity would have been wise to follow it's example. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 25970375 Canada 04/03/2014 10:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Eruptions[edit] File:OldFaithful.ogg 16-second video clip of an eruption Eruptions can shoot 3,700 to 8,400 US gallons (14,000 to 32,000 L) of boiling water to a height of 106 to 185 feet (32 to 56 m) lasting from 1.5 to 5 minutes. The average height of an eruption is 145 feet (44 m).[7] Intervals between eruptions can range from 45 to 125 minutes, averaging 66.5 minutes in 1939,[8] slowly increasing to an average of 90 minutes apart today.[9] The time between eruptions has a bimodal distribution. More than 137,000 eruptions have been recorded. Harry Woodward first described a mathematical relationship between the duration and intervals of the eruptions (1938).[8][10] Old Faithful is not the tallest or largest geyser in the park; that title belongs to the less predictable Steamboat Geyser.[4] Its popularity is more likely due to the small eruption window and high frequency. |
