Are they using the Toad pinger locator?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5383047 Apparently the ship didn't even have a tether, what they picked up was from the surface. The pinger has a range of 2km, the sea is 4km deep. Whales and all sorts of equipment can be detected on this frequency. The signal was picked up once for an unspecified time and not found again since. It is an unconfirmed report on a Chinese twitter account. UK ships detected a signal earlier in the week but it was ruled out before leaking rumours because these things need checking. The ship isn't even in the search zone. FARSE! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39716033 4 pings "heard" in 15 minutes apparently. It should be pinging every second! The ship didn't even record it because they don't have the equipment. lol. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39716033 It's the weekly bullshit excuse. Next week it'll be debree in the Atlantic found, then the following week, it'll be pings heard in the Pacific, then debree seen at Disneyland. This is one of the stupidest stories ever concocted.
