You know I have learned in life that it is not worth having a conversation with someone who feels compelled to hurl insults for points of disagreement. Shill, idiot, dumbass, blah blah blah. If you read only a few words you would gather I am clearly not dumb.

You might consider that having a friendly conversation with people can be a learning experience rather than a pissing contest.

By the way when you are writing people on the internet you should imagine the person is a stranger next to you on a bar stool and you are both having a beer, or wine, or coffee, what you prefer.

If the topic came up, and someone offered an argument, would you immediately get hostile and aggressive and call them a "dumbass"?

I know it is the internet but respect, courtesy, honor, these are all values that are still important. And mean something.

It is this government, and the people behind it, that want to turn us into mindless insult-tards. Don't let them do it. Honor. Integrity. Respect. A code. That, and ample opportunity for anyone willing to work hard, is what made this country great. That, is what is missing. And must be restored. One little step, at a time. Your lack of insults, on this forum or others, is in each case a step in the right direction.

Maybe people in your life call you a "dumbass" every day - but nobody calls me that in real life. I don't associate with disrespectful people, debate them, etc. If you do not respect what I have to say or write, there is no point in saying or writing it to you.

The destruction of our social fabric is pervasive, and the fix starts with you. You can complain about others all you want, but it does no good - change starts with yourself. Yes men used to be tough - but they also treated each other with respect. I never heard my grandfathers, father or uncles of the "old" generation calling strangers "dumbass" to their face. Did yours? Maybe with you it started with your father but I bet your grandparents had honor.

in essence you both are right. K-9s can be kind and loving dogs, they make frequent trips to schools so the kids can see and pet them. But they are trained for a purpose and that purpose causes injury and pain.

A K-9 cannot reason. this was my whole point. it cannot distinguish between being used for intimidation or a life/death situation. it cannot think to itself and say "ok, i should only bark and not bite because my handler is trying to scare these people." instead, it does what it was trained to do every time in that situation. Officers who have K-9s have to be the right person for that position. personally, that handler should be removed from having a K-9 (and more).

i should also say, if i was in a situation where a K-9 officer brought his K-9 close enough to lunge and go after me (assuming that i believed i was doing nothing wrong/illegal) i would defend myself (if kicking was my option, then i would kick). Regardless if i felt i was in the right, i would also expect to be getting that free ride. in fact i would hope so. i would want to make that handler be accountable. i would not want that handler to get away with it. i would want him to articulate why they deviated from SOP. Whether you agree with that or not makes no difference to me. that is what i would do.

I think most agree dogs can be loving member of families, but they can also be a an aggressive tool. While the care and treatment of K-9s (by the public AND handlers) is important, lets not lose sight on the real issue here. What is at stake here is much bigger and deserves our attention and discussion. There will be many sideshows attached to this, some intentionally. Hopefully no one gets distracted by them and if they do, they are not distracted for long.

it is the greatest assault on personal property rights ever. they dont even have to drill on the land. they can run a single gas line across someones property without their consent (dont think they cant, just look it up). what may have been a valuable piece of property will plummet in value. People have had their families wealth destroyed because their wealth was in the real estate that their families have had for generations.

My great great grandfather came from Italy to Nevada during the gold rush, they farmed, they ranched, bootlegged - they worked hard. And they did well.
The Bundy family is the same, wherever they came from.
The Bundy family accumulated their wealth by holding on to their land and rights, working hard and passing it down to the next generation.
