The Story Of Some Bloke.

He was born somewhere between 9 BC and 0 he went by many names Jesus , Yeshua , Joshua , Emmanuel , Isa.

He vanished for most of his early years but then reappeared and may or may not have got married and quite possibly did or didn't have children.

This isn't gonna sell folks I need something to work with.

The story of Joshu, from Oahspe, includes a portrait. He was born during the Greek occupation of Judea. General time frame 150 to 100 BC. He was Essene. They lived communally, did not generally marry. Oahspe states Joshu was born 'iesu' meaning of indeterminate sex.

When Jews infiltrated Christianity and told people that Jesus and his disciples spoke hebrew.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56689427

So what did they speak?

(This should be good...).
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41130076

Aramaic. Though they would have known Hebrew as well for purposes of readings in the temple.

I God almighty is big enough to know who you are referring to when you say Jesus. I don't serve a God so anal that I have to refer to him in a language I don't speak. I think the whole "Yoshi" thing is retarded.

Yep! I have no problem with people calling Him whatever they choose, no problem whatsoever. It's their own personal relationship with their creator.

But, I'm darn sick and tired of people putting down others who choose to use the name Jesus, mock them, trash them, and speak all kinds or arrogant evil about them as if they are superior.

I watch it daily on GLP.

If you're not one of those, then no reason to be offended.

Jesus, Jevohah, Yahweh, Abba Father, Heavenly Father, Lord, Yahshua, Creator, Almighty God..........are all the same being.

For some people to think that He only responds to one of these names is outrageous and arrogant.

HE either knows you, or HE doesn't. Does not matter one bit which of these names you call Him.

People that pick one name over another name are not more special then another person that chooses a different name.

The Holy Spirit understands all languages and is understood by those of all languages. I'm sure God understands who we are worshiping in our own languages and in our own hearts.

And He can let us know what He wants us to call Him when he returns.

How we treat others is the most important thing to Him.....not how we pronounce His name.

In answer to your question OP: This actually started in earnest back in the late 50's with the Herbert Armstrong movement. The church was called "The World Wide Church of God." A few of the scholars in that church felt it was incorrect to use the Greek spelling/name of Jesus, so they branched off into the "scared name" churches. It spread from there (slowly), but is now popular with many Christian Churches.

It is becoming popular because inherited liea and half truths don't work..

Luke 3:29, Acts 7:45 and Hebrews 4:8 translations change 'Jesus' to Joshua in some bibles, it doesn't seem significant but if the name is the same, why not all the Jesus' be changed?

Some people don't believe in the Mary stuff in the catholic church.some, even the earliest reformers considered the beast power and substitute messiah to come from there as their study guides note. Specifially the papacy...

Now the catholic apologists say that these mary visions and messages point to 'Jesus', so how can that be evil?

It points to The Jesus with a birthday of Dec 25- not Torah supportd
It points to The Jesus with a resurrection on something called easter- Not Torah supported..
It points to The Jesus with who they say apparently changed the sabbath- not Torah supported..

Not to mention their calculating pope Gregory calendar that all the religions of the world use to find their own sabbaths....

Can a catholic honestly say the Word (Torah) became flesh and dwelt among us, if their savior non-torah holy days, foreign sabbath, etc?

And added to that, how can a protestant be comfortable with any of the Catholic Church tradition they adopt like sabbaths, holy days and even the name of their savior, if they too believe that Torah became flesh?

The name is just one piece...there is mounting evidence that christian churches are following their own savior that bears little resemblance to the messiah of Israel who was supposed to fulfill the feasts in Leviticus..

Church can't get calendar right, the sabbath right, the holy days right.... how can they be trusted with the name?

There are millions of mexican men named Jesus. Yeshua is very accurate. It literally means "salvation" and the word Jesus literally means nothing.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56731244

"Jesus as a boy's name is pronounced JEE-zus, hay-SOOS. It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Jesus is "the Lord is salvation".

Re: When did calling Jesus, Yeshua become so fashionable...
What is most important is to follow what he said:

Love thy neighbor as thyself. And other things he said.

Now that being said, I do not condemn any one calling him Jesus. But the issue is rooted in tradition. It is hard for someone to call him Yeshua or Yahshua, because they have been calling him Jesus their whole lives. Another factor to consider is that some go to assemblie where they call him Jesus, it would be hard for them to change and call him Yeshua because of peer pressure.

Now here is the Truth:
The Name Yeshua is CLOSER to his real name than Jesus. But it is better to follow what he said than to dispute the pronounciation.

I have seen people here call others stupid and other things, be careful and repent.

It came about because those that hate Christianity tried to use the fact that Jesus is not a Hebrew name as "evidence " the Bible is a lie.

So it had to be laboriously explained that His real name is Yeshua.

Jesus was never his name, nor was Yeshua. English version is Joshua. And his apostles called him like the OT says to do, IMMANUEL which is part of his eternal name. Jesus is not part of his eternal name, it was simply the given name during incarnation just as each of you has likely a completely different name in each life.

Its a stupid argument at any rate and has no meaning. Those that incarnate here so NOT pick this way. In having arguments over the spelling, or whatever you demean what he came to teach . STOP IT. the mission was and is not about how his name is currently used in the English Bible.
 Quoting: Abinadi

you are very incorrect it says His name shall be called immanual. which means God with us. It doesn't say his name is
