Re: Anybody too poor to have to watch OTA TV right now?
I've been around the high-end hifi business since the early 80s, playing with high-definition television well before the broadcasters and manufacturers decided to get on board. It was chicken-and-egg for a while, waiting for the one half to start production before having proof the other had.

I've been a huge fan of OTA broadcasts since the early days, when the station engineers would gladly take feedback on how their product was being delivered. I'd say they are the last vestige of the old-school pride-of-ownership standards in television.

What they deliver in sound and picture usually out-performs that which arrives by cable or satellite beam...there is always some loss when a station is received and re-broadcast through a medium more concerned with maximum station numbers than best image and sound quality.

They can only fit 'so much' of a channel within their multiplexed bandwidth limitations...forcing both cable and satellite to modify the signal to fit their system's restrictions. This doesn't happen Over-The-Air.

So, I'm thinking the poor suckers are the ones who pay huge dollars for a compromised result.

With the kids gone. And just me and the old lady here. We realised we did not need all those stations we didn't watch at all. Now we get the important channels. 5 Local channels, And 3 American ones from New York. I wish I had of done this sooner. The kids would never known what they're were missing. But then they're the ones who drove me to it. Because all their friends had it too.

Get the cable and connect your computer to the blue ray/TV and you can watch alternative news on YouTube every day. That and Netflix and an antenna and you have everything you could want. I'd be betting against the cable n satellite stocks as many are figuring this out. Internet YouTube TV.
