Re: SHOCK!!!!! 86M Full-Time Private-Sector Workers Sustain 148M Benefit Takers
That statistic is even worse if you factor in people who work for a private company in government contracting.
I think you could easily knock that down to about 50 million people who are strictly in the "private sector".

Sad isn't it?
We need our jobs back from the red Chinese.
 Quoting: Just Some Guy

I think the number is around 16-18% of full time workers work at federal, state, county or local/city governments. So, if the full time labor participation rate is around 54%, less 18% for government workers leaves 36% to support the entire cluster fox trot.

So, I'd say about 33% are effectively contributing taxes. Oh, then don't forget that minimum wage earners pay very little income tax compared to "middle class" workers.

The first thing I thought of when I read your headline was that we should let some of these people balance the budget. They are paying enormous taxes and still managing to live and some own homes.

How many of the 86M are indirectly sucking Uncle Sams Tit?

Healthcare workers, even for profit private practice depend on Gov. funding.

Teachers paychecks may not come from the Gov, but the money does.

What about "Real Business" - GE, Microsoft, IBM, GM - what percent of their revenue is Gov. contracts?

OK - a private independant business owner -the American Dream - started from nothing and is now making $300,000 per year (Contractor, Landscaping company, Charter Boat Owner/ Operator - dosent matter).

How much of their revenue is from the 148M Benefit takers? How much is from the large portion of the 86M hard workers that are indirectly leaching off tax payers?

Bundy- the now famous cattle ranceher, grazing on Gov. Land?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57139048

Oh right, it's the gov's fault your kids didn't do homework, used drugs in school, listen to rap on the corner instead of studying, standing in a welfare line instead of working.

No, it is DIRECTLY their fault, the poor. Get up off your ass and do something about it instead of bitching and whinning, "Oh, me soo poor and it is someone else fault.

Phhhshh, get up and make a difference is what they need to do. They have the means and the opportunity.

They just poor because they didn't want to work for a living.

This number illustrates jobs only the private-sector.

Public employees (police, firemen, mail workers, teachers, road workers, University employees, etc) seem to be counted in the 148 million 'takers'... So, they are definitely working.
 Quoting: ladulce

They may be working, but who pays their salaries? Ultimately, all of the money comes from one of two sources. It either comes from some form of private sector taxation or it comes from the creation of new money by the government (which results in inflation).
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42719781:MV8yNTMxMTg1XzQzOTAwNTE4X0VCNObama lovingMzcz

And yet you want them to do the work without being paid. Who is the taker now? Stop using roads!

Talk about selfish hypocrites.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34808111

I'm all for privatizing police forces, fireman, mail workers, teachers, etc and for getting rid of taxes. It would be much better to have those jobs privatized anyway since when they fuck up (and there are high #s of fuck ups in all those professions except maybe fire fighters) their asses would be fired and out on the street where they belong.

Of course, I do recognize gov corruption making it harder to succeed in America. Though, no excuses for poverty.
 Quoting: --Voltaic--

It's not government corruption. It is CORPORATE corruption. Where corporations are making more money AND LESS JOBS while the heads soak it all out of the system.

It's the fact that LESS JOBS are needed in a high-tech society. Period.

It's the fact we have a LARGER population on top of the fact less jobs are needed.

Stop looking to 18th century ways of work and economics in a 21st century society. It's just a way to make sure 99% because slaves of the rich. And people like you help create your own slavery
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34808111

Exactly yet the gov opens the flood gates to let in more and more people to this country. It's pathetic. We can't even support the population we already have. We don't need any new people coming here. We are full. This is not the last couples of centuries anywhere where there is an industrial revolution and a need for cheap immigrate labor to work in factories as a result.

PS - I'm self employed and I'm not a huge business. If corp welfare went away it would make me even wealthier since I would be able to get a chunk of the business I'm currently excluded from because of the protection and money that massive corps get.

Exactly. Our regulatory structure pre-defines where capital or most likely credit is concentrated. That forces us into spending our money in certain ways, a lot of it is influenced through the media and advertising but another part of it is created by regulations.

Guess what party those 148 Million parasites will be voting for ????
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56150913

Many of those "parasites" are federal pension receivers, social security and military.

How much does just one retired General (any branch of service) receive each month? Not including their full plethora of medical benefits.

And this doesn't even touch all the retired military people that usually only serve 20 years and collect for the rest of their lives.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48536816

Well asshole, they earned it. They actually signed a contract with the gov stating that if they did XZY and served 20+ years on active duty they would get X each month for the rest of their lives. The military are the ONLY people that this applies. Nobody else, not welfare leeches, SS leeches or gov employee have a contract in place that signs their lives over to the gov for 20+ years and then guarantees them money for the rest of their life if they can make it. Because of that everyone else needs to be cut the fuck off, including congress and the prez and vp etc, except the military retirees.

With that being said the military industrial complex is out of control and needs to be done away with but for the ones that signed on the dotted and line fulfilled their end of the contract well, they earned that money and should receive no matter how able bodied leeches, old people leeches and children leeches are starving in the street.

If the gov wants to start putting in new recruits contracts taht they don't get jack shit then so be it but the ones who had that they were going to get XYZ in their contracts if they served 20 and a day earned and deserve every penny they get.

Perhaps the "poor" should have joined and stayed in the military. They too could receive a pension rather than bitching about being broke. The irony is there are no poor in this country. If you want to see poor go to bangladesh. Much of the freeloading money is giving to people who have TVs with cable (which I don't even have yet I've never been on the dole in any form in my life) and other luxuries.

If we are going to have a food stamp program in this country we need to go to a system where the "poor" go down to a warehouse and pick up their food. They should not get to pick what they want. They should be given the necessities and that should be all they get for two weeks. Don't like beans, rice and cheese then go hungry. This shit of letting them go to the grocery store with their food stamps on a debit card needs to end. Walmart made $80 billion off of EBT in 2012 I think it was. Look it up. Take EBT and stores out of the equation and give people the bare basics to eat and I guarantee you that shit would shape up in this country fast.

No I see the point! The point is if a company does business in the states or any other country they pay taxes.

Its totally messed up a company can do 50% of its business within the states and pay no tax or less tax than they should do and then when they can be arsed to pay it they just claim it back.

No corporate welfare is a huge and serious issue that no one wants to touch it. It always turns into this bash the little folk on welfare, and no not saying its not an issue but its the lesser of two evils in this sense

This number illustrates jobs only the private-sector.

Public employees (police, firemen, mail workers, teachers, road workers, University employees, etc) seem to be counted in the 148 million 'takers'... So, they are definitely working.

Also, per the article:

There were 49,901,000 people receiving Social Security in the fourth quarter of 2011, and 46,440,000 receiving Medicare. There were also 5,098,000 getting unemployment compensation.

And there were also, 3,178,000 veterans receiving benefits and 34,000 veterans getting educational assistance.

IMO, the elderly (Medicaid and Social Security users), people who are on unemployment (since there are no jobs in many areas) and our veterans do not qualify as 'takers'.

This is an article meant to upset the masses.
 Quoting: ladulce

how can you be a "taker" if you pay for the Medicare?- although their are people who donot pay, monthly, who do get Medicare. That money is taken out of Social Security, not Welfare. Medicaid is taken out of Welfare.

I pay over $100.00 a month for a fraction of the medical bill to be paid, and then have to pay the rest?

My Social Security check is weeeeeeeel below poverty income even though i paid all my life of pay checks about 15% (half visible, half hidden) into Social Security, as well as did my husband who didnot live long enough to "enjoy" retirement.- guess what: Welfare gets more than i do, plus they get a cut of my Social Security for which i paid, while the were getting Welfare, and contributing to Social Security.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31656575

I don't know what it is about the boomer generation that makes them so goddamned stupid which renders them incapable of grasping facts. Perhaps they just don't want to grasp facts when it cuts into their entitlements, they are pretty greedy as a generation after all.

Let me lay it out for you. Whatever you paid in to SS is gone. It went to someone else. There is nothing for you to collect except other peoples' money and that makes SS welfare. Back when you were paying in there were more workers than there were people drawing SS so it kind of balanced out but since the boomers decided not to have many kids that is no longer the case. Why should I have to pay so you can have SS when I also pay SS and there will be nothing for me to collect when I'm as old as you? I was promised SS too. That makes SS welfare and it has been since day one. There was never a special account set aside with your name on it or your husband's name on it that all the money you paid went into. It went into a collective pot for the old people before you.

And I really don't give a fuck if congress mismanaged the SS fund. That isn't my problem. That is YOUR problem for voting the assholes into congress that mismanaged the SS fund.

As for medicare, far too many people suck out more than they pay in which also makes it welfare. Sorry for the loss of your husband but that is how SS was sustainable when it first started. Lots of people like him paid in but then dropped dead before they had a chance to draw. That isn't the case anymore. It's the exact opposite now. By the way, my dad died at 50 (unexpectedly and not from natural causes, he was in excellent health) and he was a high wage earner and paid in his whole life but he didn't get jack shit either back. You aren't unique and it's not excuse for keeping the current system. Someone will have to get fucked and it might as well be the boomers. Gex X and the younger generations have already been fucked enough at your expense.

communist child benefits will cause the change of population in Romania, Slovakia and Hungary in 20 years - gypsies use childbirth as a means to extort money from working population. The more children they litter, the more wellfare they get. Gypsy family of 12 to 15 children is quite common. Every 15 years the number of gypsies in these countries doubles. At least they do not murder people for not bowing to muslim moon god. But they are able to murder your grandma (they prefer elderly, weak targets) for 10 bucks, but sure not for different religion.
The communist bastard who invented child benefits should have been hanged by his cock.
Btw the year 2012 was the first year when the number of non-white children in Hungary was above 50 %. Czech republic faces the same fate, only by some ten - fifteen years later.
Guess what will happen, when the white population will not be able to feed all those work avoiding hungry belchers?

then be prepared for a shitload of those 'chips' to fall right into your existence. desperate people don't give a shit. create enough of them you have an angry mob. still, then plenty of 'good people' will get to shoot hordes of 'bad people' with their freedom fuelled armouries. perfect.

Whatever it takes. Just because you are starving because you don't have enough sense to figure out how to feed yourself without taking what isn't yours does not give you a right to what others have.

Re: SHOCK!!!!! 86M Full-Time Private-Sector Workers Sustain 148M Benefit Takers
Guess what party those 148 Million parasites will be voting for ????
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56150913

Which is why those that are property owners, retired, active duty armed forces and their dependents are the only people that should be allowed to vote. No one else has THEIR SKIN in the game. Suckers have SOMEONE ELSES SKIN in the game.

You mean, many non-workers too? LOL

Seriously this stat is, like so many other stats put out by the right wing, so much bullshit.

On the list are retirees. On the list are housewives who don't have to work. I mean seriously, it used to be not everyone had to work in a family, now you want everyone to be slaves while the ultra-rich don't work. And they get FAR more government handouts than the poor while not making jobs.

Also note this is "full time jobs." When many of the rich who get money thanks to Koch don't hire full time workers anymore. And so the people hired need help, through no fault of their own.

You people have no clue to the real situation. The reality is, work as the center of life, is no longer necessary the same way, which is why the job creators don't create jobs, but make less every year. It's not because of lack of money (they have more) they just don't need workers.

Corporates have the power of where they wish to do business, If this is to work then all lands have to have the same laws...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2129224

If the public can't get out of paying taxes why should they?
 Quoting: Fhirinne

You miss the point.. Corporates are what your government want as they create jobs so they have to make the deal sweeter by reducing tax's etc else they will just go to some other country that will do what the corporate wants.. no skin off there nose. Put in place a corporate law that covers all country's..

The biggest problem in todays society is all the sheeple obey there on micro economic climate laws but the big corporates can pick and choose where they want to do business. Time for universal laws and our country's do more and more business.. put aside your petty local country loyalty and be loyal to the one earth law.. hmm maybe a blender for all the slackers might be a good idea...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2129224

No I see the point! The point is if a company does business in the states or any other country they pay taxes.

Its totally messed up a company can do 50% of its business within the states and pay no tax or less tax than they should do and then when they can be arsed to pay it they just claim it back.

No corporate welfare is a huge and serious issue that no one wants to touch it. It always turns into this bash the little folk on welfare, and no not saying its not an issue but its the lesser of two evils in this sense
