I think the number is around 16-18% of full time workers work at federal, state, county or local/city governments. So, if the full time labor participation rate is around 54%, less 18% for government workers leaves 36% to support the entire cluster fox trot.

So, I'd say about 33% are effectively contributing taxes. Oh, then don't forget that minimum wage earners pay very little income tax compared to "middle class" workers.

Teachers paychecks may not come from the Gov, but the money does.

What about "Real Business" - GE, Microsoft, IBM, GM - what percent of their revenue is Gov. contracts?

OK - a private independant business owner -the American Dream - started from nothing and is now making $300,000 per year (Contractor, Landscaping company, Charter Boat Owner/ Operator - dosent matter).

How much of their revenue is from the 148M Benefit takers? How much is from the large portion of the 86M hard workers that are indirectly leaching off tax payers?

I'm all for privatizing police forces, fireman, mail workers, teachers, etc and for getting rid of taxes. It would be much better to have those jobs privatized anyway since when they fuck up (and there are high #s of fuck ups in all those professions except maybe fire fighters) their asses would be fired and out on the street where they belong.

Exactly yet the gov opens the flood gates to let in more and more people to this country. It's pathetic. We can't even support the population we already have. We don't need any new people coming here. We are full. PS - I'm self employed and I'm not a huge business. If corp welfare went away it would make me even wealthier since I would be able to get a chunk of the business I'm currently excluded from because of the protection and money that massive corps get.

Corporates are what your government want as they create jobs so they have to make the deal sweeter by reducing tax's etc else they will just go to some other country that will do what the corporate wants.. no skin off there nose. Put in place a corporate law that covers all country's..

The biggest problem in todays society is all the sheeple obey there on micro economic climate laws but the big corporates can pick and choose where they want to do business. Exactly. Our regulatory structure pre-defines where capital or most likely credit is concentrated. That forces us into spending our money in certain ways, a lot of it is influenced through the media and advertising but another part of it is created by regulations.

Well asshole, they earned it. They actually signed a contract with the gov stating that if they did XZY and served 20+ years on active duty they would get X each month for the rest of their lives. The military are the ONLY people that this applies. Nobody else, not welfare leeches, SS leeches or gov employee have a contract in place that signs their lives over to the gov for 20+ years and then guarantees them money for the rest of their life if they can make it. Because of that everyone else needs to be cut the fuck off, including congress and the prez and vp etc, except the military retirees.

With that being said the military industrial complex is out of control and needs to be done away with but for the ones that signed on the dotted and line fulfilled their end of the contract well, they earned that money and should receive no matter how able bodied leeches, old people leeches and children leeches are starving in the street.

If the gov wants to start putting in new recruits contracts taht they don't get jack shit then so be it but the ones who had that they were going to get XYZ in their contracts if they served 20 and a day earned and deserve every penny they get.

Perhaps the "poor" should have joined and stayed in the military. They too could receive a pension rather than bitching about being broke. The irony is there are no poor in this country. If you want to see poor go to bangladesh. Much of the freeloading money is giving to people who have TVs with cable (which I don't even have yet I've never been on the dole in any form in my life) and other luxuries.

If we are going to have a food stamp program in this country we need to go to a system where the "poor" go down to a warehouse and pick up their food. They should not get to pick what they want. They should be given the necessities and that should be all they get for two weeks. Don't like beans, rice and cheese then go hungry. This shit of letting them go to the grocery store with their food stamps on a debit card needs to end. Walmart made $80 billion off of EBT in 2012 I think it was. Look it up. Take EBT and stores out of the equation and give people the bare basics to eat and I guarantee you that shit would shape up in this country fast.

Let me lay it out for you. Whatever you paid in to SS is gone. It went to someone else. There is nothing for you to collect except other peoples' money and that makes SS welfare. Back when you were paying in there were more workers than there were people drawing SS so it kind of balanced out but since the boomers decided not to have many kids that is no longer the case. Why should I have to pay so you can have SS when I also pay SS and there will be nothing for me to collect when I'm as old as you? I was promised SS too. That makes SS welfare and it has been since day one. There was never a special account set aside with your name on it or your husband's name on it that all the money you paid went into. It went into a collective pot for the old people before you.

And I really don't give a fuck if congress mismanaged the SS fund. That isn't my problem. That is YOUR problem for voting the assholes into congress that mismanaged the SS fund.

As for medicare, far too many people suck out more than they pay in which also makes it welfare. Sorry for the loss of your husband but that is how SS was sustainable when it first started. Lots of people like him paid in but then dropped dead before they had a chance to draw. That isn't the case anymore. It's the exact opposite now. By the way, my dad died at 50 (unexpectedly and not from natural causes, he was in excellent health) and he was a high wage earner and paid in his whole life but he didn't get jack shit either back.
