You should be able to get one in incredible shape and running order and still have money left over from $2000. It's a 3-cylinder, so it gets awesome gas mileage too. I miss our old one :( Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55224291 What about repair costs? Do they make sprint anymore? known as geo metro in later years geo metreo is awesome if you can find one with out a roted front frame where the control arms connect to. if oyu near the south your better off |

You need to look at the engine, etc. One car might be a good deal while the same car might be a bad deal somewhere else. Quoting: --Voltaic-- Look in the tail pipe and see if there is evidence of excessive water dripping out. When the engine is cold, remove radiator cap, If you can't see coolant, walk away. If you can, start car and look for bubbling. If it bubbles, walk away. If the coolant is any color different then fresh, walk away. I was wondering if there are any brands better than most for an older cheap car. of course If you look online reviews are abundant. Their are yahoo groups for various cars, do some reading. Forgive me, as I thought GLP may have some out of box thinking. I'm not looking for some shit box that MSN says I should buy. Fuckhead, MSN has nothing to do with it. The reviews are written by owners and mechanics. Buy a bicycle shit for brains. Fucking loser. Government is a body largely ungoverned. |
Em18966 User ID: 56288934 United States 04/16/2014 06:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We just bought a 99 Subaru Outback for just over 2 grand and I love it. Quoting: Em18966 We took it on a road trip last week to the Redwood Forest and drove through Nevada, Oregon and Cali up and down some steep ass remote mountain highways and it was a beast. Definitely got out money's worth, I don't think I'll ever drive anything else after this, handles amazingly, does pretty good on gas, roomy enough to road trip, small enough go anywhere, all wheel drive. Pretty good little car. Love my outback! Goes anywhere and over most things lol Yeah, this thing's great. Solves the whole issue with deciding between an SUV or a car - it has plenty of room to do pretty much anything, we can take it anywhere and it cleans up good LOL |

I was wondering if there are any brands better than most for an older cheap car. Depends, you can get porsches dirt cheap but their repairs are fucking outrageous. Often times, avoid the 1st year model of several years. Reason being is any flaws are corrected the following models. The last year of a model is a better bet. Not always. There is no 1 model to look for if you want to buy something used and cheap and have it run for a while. You need to check the engine and other wear parts. Find a friend who knows their shit with cars and have them help. Offer beer and pizza at the end. |

Though, even those cars can be sold with problems being masked. That's the problem with used cars. No one model is exempt from shady sales. |
