USPS wants to mine and sell data gathered from your mail
[link to dailycaller.com]

The United States Postal Service is looking to get in on the big-data-for-profit game played by tech giants like Facebook and Google, and begin mining and selling private data gathered from personal mail sent from and received by Americans everywhere.

Looks like we'll have to use FedEx to send a postcard to Grandma...

Sounds like a waste of money and time akin to mining people's old cassette collections to discern their current musical tastes.

I think they're too late.

Agree- the only thing we get in the mail is junk and catalogs that immediately go into recycling bin.

I'm just tired of my personal business constantly being eyeballed and the info sold. I can get rid of facebook but I can't uproot my mailbox.

Homeowners need to be aware that even though they purchased and maintain the residential mailbox, the mailbox belongs to and is controlled by the USPS (United States Postal Service). That means that any tampering of the mailbox is a federal offense.

I'm tired off this shit, too.

I didn't mean to sound as if I was putting your OP down or calling BS, I just don't think this will be too effective.

What really irks me is that the USPS has been bellyaching about revenue, raising postage rates, threatening to end Saturday delivery or close a percentage of their branches, yet they have the money to bulk up on small arms ammunition and develop covert surveillance programs. Same story at the IRS.

Interesting read from your link, thx!

Damn USPS drivers can't drive at all.

I built a mailbox that looks like my cat for my mother for mothers day; painted and detailed it, took my two days worth of work.

SOB ran it into the ground, and broke it.
