I don't claim its a UFO, but tell me what a cylinder of this apparent size is doing near Saturn ? do you think its a little odd and makes you wander?

It's a fascinating and enigmatic anomaly.

What does NASA say about it, I wonder?

It looks a bit like a larvae stage tellytubby.

The disintegration has created a dust cloud more than 100,000 km across and which is several times brighter than the original object was before the event.

How saturnine, but is it related?

hmmm . . . we can probably rule out ball
lightening and hot air from oil refineries

plasma ball . . . mother ship . . .

with flotillas of glowing spheres being filmed from earth quite fequently, this just adds the intrigue.

They are trying to make a movie about
it. I hope it's good if they do.

That image reminded me of the cover of
the first book. The second book was
even better, Zephod
 Quoting: DrPostman

I agree the second was much better. Took him long enough to get around to though.
I think my favorite Clarke novel is "Beyond The Fall Of Night".

If the bright egg shaped object is the moon Tethys, then the anomoly must be the dark structure hovering right next to it.

Looks big-could it be a moon of Tethys?

After all there are asteroids with tiny moons, why not Tethys?

Re: A huge, unidentified illuminated object was photographed by Cassini near Saturn
i read that the diameter of saturn is 75k miles... if so, the circumfrence would be 450k+ miles...

earth's diameter is roughly 4k... 24k circ...

so saturn would be huge...

any way of telling how far from saturn the object in question, is?

the closer it is to saturn, the larger it would be... the closer it is to the camera, the smaller it would be

:)
