Never even noticed them until you pointed them out. Flare usually shows circular so maybe flare? I like your analysis better though :) Maybe we are looking into a worm hole. |

No Name Today User ID: 9102830 United States 04/19/2014 09:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok a couple of days ago in Cuba I took a series of photos of a ring around the sun. I took 23 pics in all. 19 of the pics were taken with my polarizing filter on to block out some of the light. I took the last 4 with the filter off to see what it looked like with no filters. These photos have not been edited in any way. Quoting: Bear Drinker The first 3 look rather ordinary but 15 of them are freaky. Please explain what we are looking at. Is it lens flare? If so, unlike any flare I have ever seen. Is it mass coronal ejection? Something else? [link to imgur.com] IMO, It's the petrochemical haze left after dispersal of persistent jet contrails. |

[link to imgur.com] "A halo (also known as a nimbus, icebow or gloriole) is an optical phenomenon produced by ice crystals creating colored or white arcs and spots in the sky. Many are near the sun or moon but others are elsewhere and even in the opposite part of the sky.... ...They are produced by the ice crystals in cirrostratus clouds high (510 km, or 36 miles) in the upper troposphere. The particular shape and orientation of the crystals is responsible for the type of halo observed. Light is reflected and refracted by the ice crystals and may split up into colors because of dispersion. The crystals behave like prisms and mirrors, refracting and reflecting sunlight between their faces, sending shafts of light in particular directions." [link to en.wikipedia.org] Nice photos.
