Anonymous Coward User ID: 56732730 United States 04/20/2014 10:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Maybe. It could be a star. But if so, it is twinkling like police lights (red, light blue, dark blue sequence). It's approx 45 degrees above the southwest horizon (very roughly).
I used the Google Sky app on my phone to try to identify it as a star but there are no bright stars (at least not THIS bright) in that patch of sky. Messier 83 is in that vacinity. It is a globular star cluster. Could that be what I am seeing? Whatever it is, it is bright and strobing reds and blues.
It seems to be stationary. I watched it for about 15 minutes. I'll check it again in an hour or so.
Any ideas? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14202177 No. It's definitely not a helicopter of any kind. It looks like a bright point of light (like a bright star) but instead of the normal "flicker" type of twinkling, it is strobing in reds and blues. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 30464277 United States 04/20/2014 10:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | its a UFO space craft they are up there every night
If you are going to watch it for a bit, ask it "give me a sign if you are a spaceship". It may give you a stronger blinking. |

Quoting: Sikhed I did. I got the whole family out to look at it. Their theory? "Definitely a UFO". LOL. But seriously, the object is gone now. Although it may have moved behind the hills. It could just be a weird strobing star (or binary). Who knows? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57118003 Yeah but do they strobe red, light blue and dark blue like police lights? Maybe some do. I don't know. That's why I posted this thread. |
